Went to the Ortho last week and confirmed my suspicions. My intense shoulder pain while benching is caused by a partially torn rotator cuff and a lap tear. Looks like my days at the gym are over for a while. You can't even begin to know how depressed I am. I already look in the mirror after a week of not working out and see a fat water retaining sea whale. LOL. I have to make humor to keep from crying.

Any thoughts on how I can keep what I've built over the past few years? Maybe this is a good time to bulk up on legs and lean out. Just thinking out loud.

What parts of the cuff are torn?

Are you going to have surgery?

I am almost finished my recovery.

You already answer your question. Plus I'm sure you'll be getting other good ideas here. How about your abdominals?

Surgery will be determined next week when I go back to the doc. He told me to stay out of the gym.

Did you have an MRI with contrast?

Yes, I had an MRI. They dyed my shoulder up. That hurt like a bitch.

Sorry to hear about your injury. I'm sure there are excersises you can do. Like you said, focus on legs. It's better to do some activity than to throw in the towel.

Unfortunately you going to get fat, age and go bald, no gay guy will want you and you will die alone with 100 cats.

JK...there are lots of things you can do while recovering.
Work on core, legs, biceps and tris.
Try yoga..it will help you lean out a bit and give you some flexibility.
    Train for your first marathon.

Due to circumstances I had to take off a year.
You will be amazed how fast you lose muscle but also how fast it comes back.
