Hey guys-

Just curious about others who have adopted? What's that process like? Did you do it by yourself or with a partner?

I am thinking of adopting as a single dad since the husband hasn't come my way yet

I would love to hear your thoughts. I love kids.

I wanted to adopt a long time ago but I don't think it's a good idea in my case. I can barely take care of myself.

I'd love to do it one day. I'd like to have both, my own and an adopted child.

I will be adopting, married or single. But I got a couple more years before I finish this degree, then I can start thinking about it.

Ive never been one to want kids at all. Being around my nephews and nieces were enough a few years back. I still dont think I want any. But for many years now I have had a recurring dream that I have 2 twin boys or 2 sons. Not sure what that means. So maybe I will someday. But not anytime soon.

In time after Im settled and married, Im hoping to use a surrogate with my partner and have 4 kids, 2 with his DNA and 2 with my DNA, but same surrogate so they can all be siblings.

Yes it's pricey but I really want kids and I'd rather have my own than adopt. In the meantime I have my cat Tito and he's great.

I used to want them, but after babysitting my sister's and cousin's kids, I'm content with giving them back to their parents after I've worked them into a hyperactive frenzy. I might change my mind again, but I can't see myself dealing with much more than pets at this point in my life.

I have two, and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Well, I wouldn't trade them for a lot of things.

Okay, some things.

I'll rent them out.

Anyone?

Attractive terms? No-money-down financing? Take 24 months to pay?

Well, it's an interesting offer, but chances are they are my age or older - so, I'll have to pass.

OK, now that my bitchy moment is over. I want kids some day, say two or so decades from now. I would like to pass one my family name, but seeing as how there are 671,015 people in the US with my last name, I don't think it's that big of a deal. I think adoption is best. There are so many kids out there that need a home, so it's kind of ridiculous to procreate. In any case, it's not a part of my dating criterium. So whatever will be, will be.

OK, fine, jp, I'll babysit one of them for 3 years if I must.

Maybe after that I'll be ready to have my own.

thats the same way I want to do it too!... have the same surrogate and then use my dna and partners dna to have children, and not only will have the family feeling, but really truly be all related. Of course I want at least 8 or 9.... those TLC programs of some families with 13, 14 and upwards of 19 children really fascinate me. I think if I am going to go for more than 5 children I will also adopt, there are many children out there that deserve a loving and financially stable environment.
