sooo I already searched through old topics and some of the bars/etc suggested have closed since someone last asked, plus I am going at a weird time of year so I'm wondering........ what to see/do? clubs/bars/restaurants/cool cafes/art exhibits/gardens?

    notes:

    - I'm a college student so I can't be wining and dining at the finest places in the city
    - I'll be there mon 10/15 through thurs 10/18.

staying on rue st. denis which I've gathered is a hot spot for bars. plan on hitting up old port, the botanical garden (forget the name), maybe mcgill?

any gyms I can potentially get a guest pass at in the area? or anyone who wants a visitor gym buddy one of these days?

I was there last summer. If you're looking for gay bars, there's cabaret mado. In the summer, it has drag shows every tuesday night, they were really fun , but I don't know if they do it at this time of the year.
Have fun !!! I love Montreal, wish I could be there too !

If you're into the "scene", you won't find anything interesting in the "Village" unless you're here on the weekend.

    Suggestions:

1- There's a great exhibit (Tom Wesselmann) at Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal (http://www.mbam.qc.ca/)

2- Bar/restaurants: Waverly, Le Comptoir, Lawrence, Chez Victoire, La Salle à Manger, Quartier Général, Le Chien Fumant, Les Enfants Terribles, Royal Phoenix, Hambar

    Have fun.

    Not true, not even close.

There's Cabarette Mado on Tuesdays and Boys Night Out at Parking on Mondays. Gay strip clubs like Campus and Stock are also open most of the time.

    this is fantastic, thanks fellas!!

I'm still trying to figure out what the boundaries of "downtown" are. I'm guessing I need to stroll down st-catherine past st-laurent?

I'm in Montreal now.....LOVE Life here as always.

First: Get the 3 day Metro card.....cost is $16 for unlimited subway and bus.

On St. Denis you'll use the Berri-UQAM station.....which is a great center point of town. Take the Orange line to the station Mont Royal, and walk this street Rue Mont Royal in the direction of The Park.....The BIG Park called Mont Royal. it has the highest peak in the city......gorgeous views....and the leaves are just beginning to flame.

Also both Rue Mont Royal or Rue Laurier are the center of The Plateau.....an area you' ll want to know

St Catherine, The Gay Village, is a short walk for you. In Summer, it's so much prettier because of the outdoor decks for every bar/restaurant.....and it's pedestrian traffic only. Now you'll probably wonder why anyone likes it.
Still......go .....have a coffee at The Second Cup........and Oh Yeah, go to STOCK BAR.
