Recent IM exchange with a person who says he's looking for a variety of things, including webcam - I've replaced his name with "xxxxxx":
    xxxxxx: hi'
    PSBigJoey: hi
    xxxxxx: how are u?
PSBigJoey: fine, thanks. just got home for lunch.
    xxxxxx: i see
xxxxxx: ok did not mean to bother
PSBigJoey: it's not a problem. I'm online, not at the
    table.
    xxxxxx: good
xxxxxx: so can i see ur cam
PSBigJoey: do you have a cam?
    xxxxxx: no
PSBigJoey: then I'm sorry - I only turn on mine if the
other person does the same. It's only fair.
    xxxxxx: since when lmao
    xxxxxx: u r such a dork

I get that all the time. Rude indeed. I hate camming in general. I find it dehumanizing; plenty of people seem to want to find someone to jack off with, and I find a surprising percentage of them start getting demanding and pushy about it. I've started getting snippy in response. "Go buy a DVD." ;-)

    Men are strange.

I don't have a cam that works with my iBook G4 and in my profile it says no cam. But I still get guys instant messaging me wanting to cam. Go figure that one.

    Just stupid.

Dork? What does dorkiness have to do with your cam requirements?

    People are bizarre.

Then I feel privileged seeing Joey on his cam. Thanks big man!

Nah, Joey, the guy was being rather rude.

Seems like forever since I'd seen Joey flexing his bis on cam. :( or Dave walking around in the background in his underwear.

I won't even talk to guys unless they have two things:

1st: A profile picture (preferrably verified)
2nd: An introduction that doesn't include "Can I see ur (I hate it when they can't spell out the word 'your'...it's only two letters more, and correct) cam, or "hey sexy" or something along the lines of "ur hot". I just think it's tacky, and I'm not looking to jack off with guys via realjock. Call me old fashioned, but I like face to face meetings with people I let see my cock.

    And I like Ital's response, haha..."Go buy a DVD".

Thanks, Geek - that was a nice thing to say - but then, you've always been nice to chat with...

As for Crimthann, well... we don't see each other often enough. He's a good man. I'm proud to know him - for a lot of reasons.

I always get the "I'm on my computer at work/school/vacation and my web cam is at home" excuse.

There must be someone out there that is giving these guys a show with all the people asking us thinking we will give them a peek at our hot hot bodies.

(hahahahaha - as I was typing this, someone JUST IM'ed me if he could see my web cam... man oh man.)

I've never gotten/done that but it does seem to be uber-rude. He probably doesn't care because you two will never meet anyway...

    Quite rude and quite juvenile.

It's amazing the education and common sense that lacked in his responses.

Ah well, life's too short to deal with morons. But it's a shame they count for a large part of this country.

    *sigh

    :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I've met a number of really fine men on here - also on BigMuscle, where I've been a member for a long time - but I've gotten more of this kind of thing recently, and thought maybe I was reading things into responses or kinda losing it.

    Apparently it's just the times.

    Thanks again -

I hate guys who put do and don't lists in their profiles, but in my profile, I've added a line to say something to the effect that I don't perform "webcam Peepshows..." and to please stop asking. As obnoxious as my request makes me sound, nobody has since contacted me about cammy sex.

And despite my preference for manners in the face of total rudeness, this is over the top.

I have had this happen many times before, usually from a person with no picture who lives in Dubai.

Apparently, the manners and conduct of gays in this tiny nation so far, far away are totally different.

What I suppose is most surprising is that our special friends in Dubai (and there are so many of them) don't seem to have access to webcams or any sort of photographic equipment.

They are, however, very eager to see the rest of us play with our winkie-dinks.

And they want to see that right now.

My best response so far has been, "Excuse me?"

    And then silence.

But mark my words, someday, some nameless, camless, pictureless, mannerless Dubayian is gonna catch me on a bad day.

And they WILL become my emotional punching bag.

    Muhahaha!

Please don't take any of this to mean that I have anything against Dubai or it's apparently enormous gay population.

Rudeness in general seems to be an increasingly pervasive trait in modern society. Alas, we have all been robbed of watching Tofustud's propeller dance due to one too many ill-mannered folk, and this is a heavy toll to bear. More cheery good manners and less agressive demands for camera-based chicanery would see the world a happier place.

I'm not into cam but I "get it" - I don't think its weird for other guys to be into it. My bf is Deaf and this is a major way for us to communicate when not at home.

All the same - I explicitly state on my profile that I'm not into cam - here and other sites - and guys STILL solicit me for it. It is rude, obnoxious. You're right to be annoyed.

If you met a guy at a bar would it be acceptable to ask him masturbate right then and there?

lol - of course I don't know what kind of bar you guys may go to.

I wonder how many times trying to bully someone into turning their webcam on works for that person. This is why my IM option is usually set to off. I'm not ever in chat but I still get them.
