So not everything is as easy as I thought. After more people finding out I was gay at work I heard some pretty harsh rumors coming from others. I decided to confront one person in particular after hearing him talking stuff.

It was a bit of a social experiment for me. I was trying my hardest to see if I could confront him calmly without wanting to punch him in the face. I passed.

Me: Hey, Walter. I heard you found out I was gay from Lisa
Walter (trying to walk the other way nervously): Uhh... yeah I did.
Me: Well I just want to clear up some common misconceptions you have.
    Walter: Umm... okay.
Me: We've been buds before you knew I was gay. I noticed you've been avoiding me now. I'm no different at all.
Walter: Dude, I just don't want you coming on to me.

I nearly lost it. No offence but Walter is... not my type (or any girls in the store he creeps around on), and for him to say that almost threw me into a frenzy. Do people seriously feel that threatened?

Just needed to vent and wondered if anyone else has heard this.

Yep. Perfectly common thing. Two people, regardless of their sexual preference, can have experiences similar to your own. Even gay men with other gay men can experience this. I think it's mostly a composite of a lack of understanding and acceptance. Their insecurity makes them act in asinine ways.

If it makes you feel better, you can always come on to me, baybeh. ;D

I had one straight guy say that to me once... I laughed my arse off to his face when he said it... Boy was his ego bruised and battered by the end of it.

I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes and he understood he didn't have a chance.

I'd probably just laugh in his face because it's never a hot guy who says shit like that, but the evil side of me would want to start hitting on him all the time just to drive him nuts.

Ah, one of the biggest double standards in history. Straight gays think it's perfectly ok to hit on unwilling women every chance they get, but god forbid a gay guy hits on them.

Women have been dealing with this since the dawn of time. Insecure straight men need to get over it.

Just ask Walter if he has the desire to fuck every girl he sees.. the good, the bad, and the ugly. If he says no, then let him know you feel the same way about guys and that he's got *nothing* to worry about. Emphasis on the nothing part. icon_lol.gif

If he says yes, then call his bluff and tell him to bang the next ugly chick that walks in through the door.

Yes. I said not every gay guy is like that, and as a person, not just a gay person, that's not how I am. I tried to emphasize the part about me being a guy, not just a gay guy. I don't like being judged on my sexuality as it doesn't define me.

Good stuff. Just observe his behavior now on. He obviously has issues so just continue on as you normally are.

It's sad but I think this is how it starts. Most of my straight guy friends have and would bang just about anything that moves and they assume all men are like that so therefore we would sex them if the slightest opportunity arose. (no pun intended)

We all know that he just displayed his insecurities and the social worker in me says that by honestly confronting him and politely telling him that he has nothing to worry about, that you are only interested in pursuing relationships with openly gay men, he will come around in his own time.

Now the affronted gay guy in me says start the gossip mill around work talking about how ludicrous it is that this Igor thinks you would lower yourself to hitting on him. When in his presence, make sure he hears some of the following comments:

"I mean really, if sex appeal was dynamite that guy couldnt blow his nose"

"Last time I saw a body jiggle like that it was of water"

"His pediatrician must have been Dr. Frankenstein"

"I prefer my men with hair on their heads not their backs"

"maybe this is my fault, when I said I like big dicks I meant anatomically, not emotionally, he's probably just confused"

Childish, sure. But it will be so much fun. Will it work? Maybe, maybe not but it has a chance. When teaching kindergarten we have to use monosyllabic words, not collegiate level education methods.

Just tell him that he has nothing to worry about, because no gay man in his right mind would come on to him the way he looks.

I say that to guys fairly regularly. It's funny how offended they get. icon_lol.gif

    SO many comedy put downs.

I think I might have gone with:

    "I´m gay, not blind."
