It seems so difficult for others on the left to recognize that this movement isn't about social issues, but about economic ones - and consistency.

    http://nymag.com/news/politics/elections-2012/tea-party-2012-10/

This is a nation that loathes government and always has. Liberals should not be deluded: The Goldwater revolution will ultimately triumph, regardless of what happens in November.

Just a look back - Frank Rich is a man who called the Tea Partiers "Stalinists" - oh the irony -

I think Frank's having a rough day. I enjoy his writing but he is, after all, a theater critic. icon_lol.gif

What's the evidence that this was a tea party event? In fact, this is the Conservative Alliance's Iowa Tea Party page:

    http://conservativeallianceia.com/teaparty.html

But here's another thing about the tea party - it is a true grass roots organization which doesn't share a central organization despite the attempts by some in the media to suggest otherwise. Then again the way they report about libertarians or conservative issues they might as well be reporting as if they were from the moon.

It is well documented that the Tea Party is centrally funded and managed by the Koch Brothers and their various funding mechanisms. So you're either lying or misinformed. icon_rolleyes.gif

It's well documented that the Koch brothers contribute to a lot of tea party organizations and want to fund the tea party movement - but this doesn't make it centrally managed as you'd like to believe. It's also well documented that the Koch brothers are for gay marriage and are active libertarians - so I don't know why you're misinformed or lying...

Even on this point alone, your argument falls apart because of the views the Koch brothers have.

Just do a search of "tea party and gay rights" and you'll get the idea of where they stand.icon_wink.gif

You're utter lack of knowledge about basic facts in American politics make most of your threads laughable. Thankfully, you can't vote. We have enough low information voters already.

I don't deny that there are many who have socially conservative values - but the reality is that even most of those place these subordinate to economic issues - and it's economic issues that unify them.

Figures that you're unable to form any semblance of a rebuttal but that's pretty consistent with your grasp of the economic issues at play.

HottJoe, he would like nothing better than to see the US reduced to a third world level employer. Once you get that, all his posts make an eerie kind of sense. icon_wink.gif

The irony is that Hitler's angle has more in common with yours and those on the left than they do with the libertarians. They didn't call them the national socialists because they were libertarians.

To long for the day that you'll bother to educate yourself on the issues. How would the US get reduced to a third world level employer? Oh right, you're the one who thinks that it's a race to the bottom despite the fact that over 90% of people in the US get paid above minimum wage - ditto for Canada. How do you explain that?

Wrong. Hitler used a poor economy to unite people around his hateful agenda.

They still shared far more ideas with the left and communists than with anything we know now as the "right", "conservatives" and definitely not libertarians.

    Riddler = Ann Coulter

It says what it says for effect and attention. Just ignore it and watch it whither up and die in its own hate.

That's a leftist trope to suggest that anything that disagrees with their point of view must therefore be hate. A more accurate statement would be to suggest that you say what you say because you are too ignorant to say otherwise? icon_wink.gif

    riddler, When Frank Rich writes:

"CONSERVATIVES ARE THE COCKROACHES OF THE AMERICAN BODY POLITIC, POISED TO OUTLAST US ALL.",

how did you manage to find an endorsement of The Tea Party ???

A MORE CAREFUL READING.....(or even ANY reading of the article at all)....

    delivers his essential point:

PROGRESSIVES NEED TO PREPARE FOR A LONG FIGHT------because these crazy bastards aren't just going to go extinct....

I wasn't saying that it was an endorsement - I was pointing out that he was recognizing the political reality. This is of course also a man who called tea partiers stalinists.
