If a child is born a boy, then eventually grows up to be a man whose gender identity is female but their sex is male and they are interested in men is that person gay until they are post-op?

So then the person is never gay? Since they identify as a female, they won't be gay?

In some cultures, men who act/identify as women are treated as such, and instructed by their tribe to marry a man.

I understand that, but what if the man has the operation to become physically a woman. Will that person still be classified as gay or will they become straight?

They will be classified as pre or post-op transgender, and scorned by most of society...including many from the LGBT population.

It takes more balls to have gender reassignment surgery than it does to be openly gay. icon_wink.gif

Well I didn't know transgendered was considered a sexuality. Thanks for enlightening me.

And no I don't think I'm transgendered, I wanted to know about the situation regarding a character in a show because I was in an argument with someone about it.

Okay, so there's another inevitable "Glee" episode that will beg this question:

If a lesbian gets penetrated by her strap-on wearing or transgendered, surgically constructed phallus-sporting girlfriend does that make her straight?

To some extent yes, because for some of them, to all intents and purposes they're straight females, That said, there are also equally deserving of full respect those that transgender but are same sex oriented, going from liking men to liking women, or the reverse. Sexuality and romance that goes along with it are delightfully complex, aren't they?

Yeah, this our take on the minority dies first in the old movie cliches. This can only go on for so long before it become primitive to even the conservative mainstream audiences. I can't wait to be watching a full prime time miniseries that has gay characters in it that aren't there for froofroo, fluff, or filler...that will be awesome entertainment!
