So far the only one I find is the stereotypical lactose intolerance.

I don't know what other lot of negatives concerning asian guys you're talking about.

I'm dating this guy and he seems really insecure about himself. He told me that gays in general dont find asians attractive (which I dont agree) what do u think?

I think Asians are hot, both men and women. But I don't like to limit what's out there based on something as arbitrary as race.

    Not again. *sigh*

Why would it be any different from dating any other guy? But yeah, we (at least I, hehe) tend to be a bit insecure. Being the least stereotypically 'masculine' of all the races, we tend to fare for the worse in gay culture. The same things that make an asian woman attractive is what makes asian men 'effeminate'. We're seen as submissive, I think because of our small stature, partly due to, yeah, lactose intolerance. Since milk and even meat products has never played as much a part of our diet as in other cultures.

That said, I'm as human as you are. icon_biggrin.gif

Oh wait... I'm not. But the rest are as human as you are! All you humans should bunch up together, coz like, the invasion fleet is coming nearer. Last time I chatted with our Sector Commander, there was only like a light-year lag. icon_cool.gif

    We come in peace, seriously.

OMG..who cares! And then when were all okay with Asians there'll be another race to rave or dish on! Who cares, so long as the machinery works, their nice people who have decent needs and wants and can hold my attention longer than I can hold my a dime on my nose! Humans unite...now find all gay men and lets have a party! PS....muscle on a body no matter what race does a body good!

I'd date me. Sure I'm not the finest catch in the ocean or the most confident person, I have my fair share of bad attributes that I'm working on, I just know I have many good attributes:

I have a good career, financially stable
    I am ambitious
    I can cook
    I keep fit
I know how to have fun
I am open, honest, and communicative
    I believe in monogamy
    I am loyal

Deciding whether you like someone begins long before you start analysing their good and bad attributes. I'd look at why you feel that way about your date, whether it's a deal breaker or not, and then stop wasting each other's time if it ain't ever going to work.

Hey now I got me a South Asian.... get one and you are set for life if they are in the west.... most of these guys are in high tech. Can you say upward mobility? icon_biggrin.gif That accent is cute too, not to mention they are the people of the Kama Sutra. icon_lol.gif

Seriously though, there have been no more draw backs than any other group. Language is a bit of a problem when he is around other Bengalis (they stop speaking English which is more than a bit frustrating).

I think Asians can be hot, I tend to prefer Asians a lot of the time and the first guy I was ever with was Asian, though i don't really care for race (if a guy is hot he is hot, ha ha) personality seems to win me over most of the time.

I personally think it is how you grow up and the stereotypes you are feed that really shape the type of guy you are attracted to. I am a black man but I grew up in an all white neighborhood, with sprinkles of Asians (specifically Japanese) and Latinos for a long time I was the only black guy in the whole school. So when i was younger I subliminally went for Asians, Latinos and White guys. I was never feed the stereotypes of Asians so i never thought anything negative of them period.

And even though a lot of people think effeminate when they think Asian man, I think they should try to look past that stereotype, Just like in America you can find that really fit/buff guy, you can find that in Asian countries as well they just might have a different mindset because of their culture so don't be too picky. icon_wink.gif

I can't believe this non-issue is still an issue in 2008.

An attractive person is an attractive person.

Most of the comments above are well-intentioned; we're all entitled to our personal tastes. But nobody should be discussing a race's worthiness -- as if they are the qualified authority.

It's actually self-righteous (who are we to be ranking anybody? Ever.) and condescending.

For the record: I see Asian people all the time that I'd eagerly.

If there are any negatives to dating someone Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc., it's not him or her; the negative is whoever the person is with the "hang-up."

This is all to say that their still exist a racial-sexual hierarchy that people and society subscribes to in various degrees. And East Asians, Southeast, South, etc etc. queers aren't impervious to such things either. In fact, I find my Asian brothers doing more holding up this structure, but nonetheless, it is incredibly difficult to work on obliterating people's already insidiously embedded notions of race and sexuality without almost attacking how it has been constructed in his/her heads.

There is a tendency for people to say, "it's just what I like" or "it's just my preference." But we aren't really just born with racial-sexual preferences. Existing ones are imposed upon someone and individual personalities negotiate those constructs very subconsciously for the most part. It's when one interrogates those "preferences" and see them as part of power system that those lower in the hierarchy (i.e. Asiatics) can start breaking down the stereotypes, assumptions, etc. that bring about discussions like we are having now.

aries_pal saidWhich kind of Asians are you talking about? There are East Asians (Oriental), Southeast Asians (Filipino), South Asians (Indian), etc.. We are all different you know!

Good point... though I am still confused about the "lot of negatives" mentioned originally. Either you like the guy physically, as a person and presumably in other departments - or you don't. And if everything is right, then I can't really see why what race has to do with it...

Doesn't matter what race you are. If you're hot you're hot. Plain and simple. I think people come up short when they start closing off a whole group of people due to race. But hey, I guess that's just better for us guys that know a good thing when we see it. More for us! lol

I can't say I agree. I am attracted to a smilng face and a fit body any day of the week. When I was single this landed me in bed and on dates with, asians, blacks, whites, both American and European, as well as a French Canadian just to keep it interesting. It sounds like you may be applying your personal story to your entire race. Go out, smile, dance and say Hello! You might be surprised. I know I saw quite a few Asians in the Olympics that I'd go out with in a heartbeat, with hopes that their personality matched their great looks. And if not, a good night in the sack never hurt international relations. He He.

My first crush ever was with an Asian guy.

It depends on the guy, of course, but race isn't something that will either make me feel attracted or unattracted to a guy.

I'm curious as to why gay guys tend not to like Asians too. I know that no one will come out and openly admit it on here, but there has to be some reason. I felt bad for my Asian friends back in DC who were largely ignored by other gay dudes.

Is it the stereotype about a small penis? Is it the stereotype about them being shorter? Is it the stereotype that they are flamers?

So yeah, I'm just as curious as the poster of this question.

Now, I can understand someone who genuinely "likes what he likes, and he just doesn't like Asians", but I would still be curious as to what about them he doesn't like. I've known people who say the same thing about black guys, Hispanic guys, and even white guys.

But like my ex in DC says "Guys that say 'White guys only' are the most honest men you'll meet"

People do tend to be the most honest when they're hateful.
