Don't expect metta8 or others who posted this to post any corrections... The sad thing is that you can almost certainly expect that contributions to the soup kitchen will fall following this attempt by the charity's president and Washington Post to attack Paul Ryan.

    http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/16/14485409-ryan-did-wash-dirty-dishes-during-soup-kitchen-visit?ocid=twitter

Amid questions and criticisms related to Paul Ryan’s visit this weekend to an Ohio soup kitchen, the charity’s president said the Republican vice presidential candidate did, in fact, scrub dirty dishes though his visit wasn’t officially sanctioned.

The question of whether the Wisconsin congressman cleaned dishes that were actually dirty – as opposed to re-washing already clean dishes so as to get a good photo opportunity -- Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society President Brian Antal clarified that Ryan did clean soiled dishes. This differs from what Antal had told The Washington Post Monday.[...]

Antal says he is speaking to the media because the organization is non-political and is concerned that being connected to the campaign could negatively impact their support.

The confusion, though, hasn't stopped Democrats from trying to turn Ryan's stop into a political issue.

The Washington Post posted an updated article online Tuesday morning noting: “The head of an Ohio charity who criticized Mitt Romney’s campaign for staging a 'photo-op' at one of the group’s soup kitchens has consistently voted in Democratic primaries.”

Why are you wasting time with this sideshow, Riddler? If you have a point, then make it. You're just wasting everyone's time by speculating on the meaning behind a cheesy photo-op.

Next: Biden kisses a newborn baby on the forehead and gets spit up on. What does it really mean????????

So they kept back a couple of dirty pots for Ryan to wash for a photo op?

That's not the point. Such a photo op is supposed to be showing his participation in the actual effort of caring for the poor, interacting with the poor. Not showing up after everyone is gone.

    Bah!

    Yes, this is exactly it.
If he had planned ahead to show up, and they knew he was coming, and he actually interacted with the poor people who were there to get something to eat, it would have been different.

But, his appearance there, after all of the poor people had been fed and had left, was a spur of the moment decision for a cheesy photo op.
Obviously, Ryan doesn't have a clue, and he'll participate in any cheap stunt to try to fool voters into electing him to office. Disgusting.

Again, that citation misses the point. It's not washing a dirty dish. It's interacting with the poor. And he was careful NOT to do that.

Show us a report that he was there serving meals to the poor.

Even a Canadian busy-body can't be so dense that you can't grasp this point.

Well now, according to Riddler's article, the head of the Ohio charity has always voted Democrat in the primaries. Obviously had Ryan asked for the photo op, he may very well have been turned down. There are many charities (soup kitchens) out there and the Repub war chest is bulging with money, so brag the usual Conservative posters on RJ. The photo op could have been easily accomplished in a number of other venues.

So Ryan merely proved he's without ethics, or manners....among other things. .

First he gets criticized for not washing dirty dishes, which was factually false, then he gets criticized for even being at a charity - when both he and his running mate have been far more charitable than their counterparts - and those reports are open for all to see... I get the sense that no matter what he did he wouldn't be able to win with you. Am I wrong?

Incidentally the point that this article made - was more of a rebuttal to the attacks being claimed by some in the press, by those like q and metta. It was a response - to a contrived scandal - but you seem to have missed that point. Ironically, meanwhile you ignore real scandals like the coverup over Benghazi...

    It wasn't debunked.
But you've missed the point, as usual, since you are the dimmest bulb in the chandelier.

All is clarified. Thank you riddler.icon_lol.gif

This reminds of a central line I once did as an intern. I prepped everything, did the line with a med student helping, and then my resident comes in and puts a dressing on, and proceeds to fill out one of those cards that we're required to do to show that we've done enough central lines. Totally legitimate... icon_biggrin.gif

This nastiness is totally uncalled for. You can disagree, even think someone is from another planet sometimes, but that is going too far.

It was towards the end of my internship, I could do it semiblindfolded. (Kidding)

But there are some that would take credit for what they essentially did not do. That was my point. (e.g. posing for photo ops with stimulus-supported projects)

Whenever I pick up a patient who's on the mend and tells me how grateful they are, I emphasize to the patient that it wasn't just me, it was whatever that the other doctors and nurses have already done. I was just lucky enough to oversee the recovery part of their illness.

    I guess that's why I'm not a politician.
