(Playing devil's advocate): If the straight majority see LGBT as morally inept & perverted, how far wud u go to prove them right? Wud u be free as a bird & do as u please & go beyond society's mores or wud u be more straight-acting to conform & easily fit in?

I'm doing my best to show others that I'm not defined by my sexuality so I don't think I would try to prove anyone right (because they're not).

I'm pretty much of a perv and I give not a fuck (no, nary a fuck) what the "straight majority" thinks of me. Their continued withholding of my rights as a citizen - THAT I care about.

I wouldn't. I'm not sure why I'd want straight people to think that.

Why would you want all straight people to think that about all gay people?

To meninlove: All the questions I post are devil's advocate-based. The "u" doesn't mean "I". I post a topic for people to think about & respond to the question posted, not judge the postee.

    Fair enuf icon_smile.gif I've always been very straight-acting. That's me. That's how I choose to conduct myself. That's who I am icon_smile.gif

I think the risk of 'devil's advocate' is that without stating so in your OP
you may inadvertently paint yourself as something you aren't.

lol, don't use PDA; spell it out! (PDA is known around here as Public Displays of Affection) icon_wink.gif

If guys know what your angle is, I think you'll have less , er, heated responses.

(and not on every post, just when you start a topic where you are playing devil's advocate) icon_wink.gif

"If you know who you are, you've got nothing to prove"

I like to believe there's some truth to that statement

The hard part is just to avoid both.
Not reacting against, and not ending up conforming.

Because adjusting your behavior because of other people opinions means what they think is important to you.

I already "FIT IT". I would just be myself and let them think what they will. when i am in uniform and I am going through the airport I get approached all the time by people thanking me for my service. not a single one of them has a clue. sometimes I do wonder if they would still come up to me if they knew that I was into men. but I don't make that part of my uniform. but still, the question does sit in the back of my mind.

To Prometheus: Add a red ribbon to ur uniform. They can't assume ur gay, just means u support gay rights. But if that wud make it difficult for u, don't. Ur defending & putting ur life on the line for our country is advocacy enuf icon_smile.gif

I think the best way to deal with it is just be yourself. Live your life like you normally would, you just happen to like guys. Where the idea that gay guys are over-sexed and mega feminine is beyond me... well, I kind of have an idea how it could be this way but I rather not get into that.

Very good answer...our sexuality is just one of the many traits that make us who we are.
