    One Example;

"In 1975, after Republican Utah state legislator M. Byron Fisher sponsored a bill to ratify the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the Church’s newspaper, the Deseret News, published a typically unsigned editorial, which opposed ratification. Within days, Fisher reversed himself and voted against the bill he had sponsored, explaining, "It is my church and as a bishop [of a local congregation], I’m not going to vote against its wishes."

    AND ANOTHER:

"In May 1981, U.S. senators Jake Garn and Orrin Hatch unexpectedly found themselves in the middle of a church-state conflict. The two Republicans had supported locating an MX-missile system in Utah, until the First Presidency [the Church president and his two counselors] announced its opposition to the proposal. Both quickly and compliantly changed sides, and Hatch later omitted this controversy from the discussion of "Missiles" in his memoirs."

Mitt Romney needs to explain whether or not his Mormonism will affect his Presidency. The Mormon church has certainly had an outsized influence on his life.

I think he has done this -- numerous times --- sorry you missed it. I don't think any further explaining is necessary.

Well this never even was asked of Obama, given the controversial church he attended.

At the time it was said "there is no religious test for the Presidency". I agree with this.

Liberals need to stand by what they say.

Well, maybe YOU don't, but I think some assurance for the rest of us would be comforting. After all, Romney caved to the extreme Right and signed an anti-gay amendment pledge. And he's done his Etch-A-Sketch routine on many issues, like women's rights, health care, the list goes on.

So please tell us, with links & quotes (the most recent obviously, since older quotes don't count with Romney) how his Mormon religion will or will not impact his Presidency.

What would be the point? Your version of "the rest of us" aren't voting for Romney anyway.

Yes. I remember it, though not a voter yet. Kennedy found it necessary to state that he wouldn't be taking orders from the Vatican. His Republicans opponents made a big issue of it. But now that their candidate is a Mormon Bishop, guess what? Total silence.

What were some of the controversial quotes of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for 20 years? "God-Damn America" comes to mind right away. Do you think Obama would let 20 years of that shit influence him? It's a fair question, since you're worried about the Mormon church, and I agree that is also a fair question to ask. EVERY president must be able to make a decision that may not be popular with his church, most of which are decidedly anti-war, anti-capital punishment, and some even hide illegal immigrants.

No, the ball is in your court. You made the statement, I challenged it, now you need to defend it. Telling me to Google it is a total surrender.

Gosh, Bubbles, I guess you got me. Be sure to draft a strongly worded letter of concern to President Romney after the election and express your concerns. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm so glad to see you concede defeat on this.

Well, if you must know. I was picturing your first name (Bob) + that bottle of champagne you were waiting to crack open on Election Night to celebrate the Obama landslide victory. Election Night comes, and things just don't workout at all like you had hoped. You turn on the TV just as President Obama is conceding to Mitt Romney. You pop the cork of that champagne, put bottle to lips, cock your head back and chug the whole thing down. Bob + bottle of champagne = BUBBLES icon_wink.gif

If Romney does win, Bob will need something A LOT stronger than champagne. Maybe a few large bottles of Southern Comfort.

Prolly lose himself in a road trip with his lesbian biker friends, with whom he's the only male allowed to ride. ... But they never call him "Bubbles."

OIC. Because Bubbles was a nickname my gay friends in another State once had for me, because of my perky personality. Don't laugh or mock, it was their choice, not mine. I still get email from them addressed as Bubbles.

So that when you used that nickname, obviously intended as a personal insult as you always do, I did wonder if you had some additional knowledge about me. I'm glad you do not. You may now return to your usual slanders and lies.
