Anderson Cooper: Opinions?

Sooo I'm just wondering what people think about Anderson Cooper. I know a lot of people think he's gorgeous and has a cute giggle. But does anybody watch his talk show? I was kind of looking forward to it, but two seasons in, it still seems like every conversation Cooper has ends up being about him. It's like he has the self-centricism of Oprah Winfrey, but without the eloquence or wisdom.

But that's just my opinion. I know he's popular, so what say ye?

I used to like Cooper but now I think he is a bit full of himself, but when you see him - he is good looking and very successful and I think it's hard to keep your feet on the ground when you have everything including super hot Ben Maisani. I used to like his giggle but now it annoys me a bit and he kind of overdoes it.

His day time talk show is awful. It's not too far off from Maury Povich, Ricky Lake, Wendy Williams, and the other mindless day time shows.

I think everyone had high hopes that his talk show would be great.
But after the first season, I stopped DVR-ing it.

I don't claim to personally know him, but have been to several social functions, (both formal and informal), where we've both been guests. And he is much better in the non-show format from what you see on TV. Not awkward and not all about him as he seems to be on the show.

The only format I like him on other than as a News journalist is when he guest hosts with Kelly Ripa on her morning show. I prefer him sticking to serious journalism. Even his "Ridiculist" on "360" tends to work my nerves a bit. I think it cheapens his stripes as a journalist of serious news.

I agree 100% with Todd on this. He is hysterical when he's with Kelly Ripa. (They should have asked him to be the new co-host instead of that Michael Strahan.)

He needs to do some kinky stuff... maybe be a guest star in a video doing with Colton Ford, and be taped being as much a typical gay man hooking up as much as possible... I'd buy that! I still think he's hot... I'd do things to his ass he's only dreamed of... icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Careers in media/journalism/print are now basically vanity positions for really well-off people who can both afford to ride the revolving intern rack and have a family name inroad, so even he has to admit that he didn't exactly have to walk a tightrope to get in through the front door.

Can't speak for all people in the media, but he didn't ride the Vanderbilt coattails. In the late 90's he hid the fact of who he was long after got his feet in the door of journalism.
As for the intern part.....I interned for a year after college before working. It's not easy putting in those hours and not getting compensated. Mentally it takes a toll.

Of course he's full of himself, as someone noted - he's a Vanderbilt. But I also think he has nice qualities. Plus he's a media celebrity, with all the personality baggage that brings, and the assumption of self-serving motives.

But on balance I think he's OK. And now that he's out I'd rather have him on our team than not. He'll do us more good than bad.

Lots of threads on him in the past. I think he's a great professional, but personally he doesn't do much for me.
