So today I was thinking about how I flirt at the register, but it can be turned the other way around and you flirt with, in this case a waiter, as a customer. If they don't do your request you do have the right to complain about their dubious customer service. I asked the waiter to unwrap a straw for me because I was using the innuendo to flirt. He refused, and he's gay. I don't think I'll complain this time because my friend that paid for the lunch for me likes him and the waiter can just make his own money and leave my little bit of sugar alone, plus he might have been working there for the required time to get unemployment fr getting fired which might pay him more in the long run. As Bon Qui Qui say "Rude".

If I was that waiter, I'd have you kick out of the restaurant. That's borderline harassment. icon_rolleyes.gif

You call that flirting? When you are pursuing someone, do you club them over the head and drag them into your cave, too???? icon_eek.gif

    "...unwrap a straw for me..."

Did I read that right? Seriouslyicon_confused.gif

I would be mortified if one of my friends ever asked that at a restaurant, and it would probably be the last opportunity they had to make that mistake in my presence. Just sayin'.

Unless your trolling right now. You should really reconsider when and how it is appropriate to flirt vs. being disrespectful. It's annoying when someone insists on hitting on you or making you do stupid tasks for their entertainment when you are trying to work and be polite. And to suggest complaining to their boss if they don't play your game? Respect people for being people, I wouldn't even take that shit from my boyfriend let alone some stranger who somehow feels entitled as a customer to use me for entertainment. If you want to make connections with people, respect them as people and engage in friendly conversation, not play objects to toy with.

The whole logic for the straw being wrapped is so it's sanitized for patrons. The waiter was just following protocol.

If i ask him to do it, then protocol doesn't apply and he can always half unwrap it.

And for all you other guys who lack self esteem by saying its rude you're just asking for the staight guys to bully you. Unlike you I have a thing called pride for my sexuality and if they don't respect that by doing a little thing that takes two seconds of their time, then I will show them who is boss.

It's not part of the waiter's job to unwrap your straw; in fact, he'd be doing you a favor if he did, you're not handicapped. You wanted to complain because you got rejected, and that's despicable.

P.S. - Getting someone possibly fired for not unwrapping your straw doesn't make you "the boss" - makes you a whiny douche.

I didn't realize that waiters were obliged to fulfill every degrading demand of customers. I will have to start eating at better restaurants, where waiters are in complete subservience to patrons, and plastic straws come wrapped in paper.

What I wanna know is how I was rejected. I was flirting, not down on my knees proposing.

Well they're not really, it depends what kind of waiter you're talking about. The one i am referring to has to do with a "MEN"u.

No one has the right to make another person uncomfortable. No one. Clearly you think this nameless waiter should have been flattered by your unwanted advances because you are no doubt the epitome freshly-hewn chisled manliness, but the terrible truth is that even workers in the service industry have no obligation to do anything beyond what their duty calls for.

It's interesting that the waiter showed his classiness in rebuffing your boorish advances, while you show just how shamelessly plastic you are by complaining about it here.

Come to Ireland sometime and try pulling shite like that. We have a certain reputation to maintain.

I leave you with the kindest words I can summon. St. Patrick turn his face from ye, St. Brigid spit upon your face, and may the devil dog your steps until ye die.

You're right, they usually choose their job because they like doing it. And i was at the table getting food and a drink from the restaraunt.

Oh, and if you're noticeably gay when you ask for your straw to be unwrapped, unless you are at a restaurant that hands you a bottled or canned drink to begin with, i wouldn't accept the drink if its brought to you from a fountain dispenser. Could be roofied or worse, poisoned.
