This seems to happen more often to women, but yeah. Always meet in public...

Very sad, but they could have just as easily met at a bar or somewhere else. Always meet in a public place and take a little time to get to know someone in real life.

I remember when this first happened. Sickening story. Though they seem to vilify and specifically target internet socializing. This could have very well happened while meeting someone in a bar or somewhere public.

Wow. reading that made me sick. The perp is a vile piece of shit. Human garbage. Cases like this always remind me why I refuse to protest the death penalty. It needs to be in place for guys like this. Utter trash.

What a true coward to prey on someone who is in no position to fight back. Let me say also that this article seems to highlight the fact that they met over the internet. The two could have met anywhere, in a bar, on a street corner, at a party, anywhere. In the end these things require common sense when navigating relationships with strangers.

Sure. People whose messages say "hot!" or "horned" or "looking?" are always thinking about meeting in public.

it's pointless to try to avoid something like this, if it's meant to be... you will meet him anyway. manhunt, craig's list or grindr... it's like getting hit by a car, if you were 5 seconds late - it wouldn't happen. same thing as getting into the hands of a murderer. icon_exclaim.gif

It's also a very, very, very small minority of guys who seek out other guys online with the clear and express intent to brutally murder them and film it. We have this one story. 10's of thousands of guys across the globe meet anonymously to hook up every single day. Statistically I'd wager you're still more likely to get into a gruesome car accident than have this happen to you.

Speak softly and keep an eye on the cutlery.

I'm also curious if the victim and wacko exchanged long, progressive messages where the wacko built up his trust or if it was more of a "Sup" "hey" "wanna come over" "sure" kinda thing.

    What a POS. icon_neutral.gif

Sadly, with the rise of camera phones/etc, this is a occurrence (killing for the "thrill" of it & recording it) happening often now.

Wow. Very sad. What is wrong with people? And who tapes a brutal crime. I get that he was trying to scare people, but that's just dumb--not to mention disturbing.

In a different vein though...is it wrong that I'm really curious to know how he looks without his shirt on?

A life of prison rape will have to suffice. He should probably get used to hearing "Hey boy. You've got a purdy mouth," or whatever the British equivalent is while he's there.

Omg this is so fucking sick and fucking shit sick! * pardon me

thats why I get scared even with pondering thoughts to meet folks in person or at public places, before they pass my T&C.

There is one thing my father did always say this to me "Dont come back from the gym so late! todays world it isn't necessary the ladies". "Keep your time variable" icon_confused.gif

    Lord bless that man.

I thank the horror movie genre (& true crime studies) for teaching me to be a bit overly cautious & making me realize everything isn't what it seems!!

However I will say, after hearing how that POS gladly & coldly stabbed/smashed/bashed that poor guy --

Gawking at his "physique" in positive light is kinda sending out the wrong message. He doesn't deserve that positive acknowledgement.
