Okay so it's seriously been a couple years since I have had a cell phone. It's getting pretty ridiculous not having one I feel like cut off in a lot of ways and I really need to get on a plan since my parents always refused to pay for a plan for me or family plan whatever I need to get on one by myself. Most people I know have version and a few have At&T I think. I was thinking about going with version but I'm hoping to hear some ideas, it would be nice to have these things listed below.

    Cheapest Possible..
    Unlimited Texts and Talk
    Smart Phone
    Internet/ Apps

I think that's pretty much it, well if you guys have any ideas I'm open to hearing them I really can't go on much longer without a cell phone.. by the way i'm 20 years old from Minnesota if that changes anything.

Awkward moment when I have the same thing.

Their unlimited everything plan (since you're also looking for 9999 talk minutes) is $55/month. Note that Virgin does throttle after you use up 2.5GB of data. I've never reached that limit since I use Wi-Fi when I can.

    Depends what you want:
    prepaid or contract
    Smart phone/basic phone
How much you plan to spend

2 year contract(cheaper phone):At&t and Verizon are the most expensive. Verizon has the best coverage. Tmobile and sprint are the cheapest. I have an iPhone with sprint and pay approx 90/month, However, I had t-mobile and it kept getting more and more expensive. Went from $70 to $116 for one line in less than 2 years.. CEO's at AT&T are a bunch of conglomerates and they're gonna overcharge you every time they want a raise.

Prepaid: virgin mobile and boost mobile are the best. They both run on Sprint's network. Virgins plan run from $35 for unlimited text/data and 300 minutes. $45 for 1200 minutes, and $55 for unlimited everything. Sprint is unlimited everything for $50 or $60 on a 4g smart phone. They both have nice phones but you have to pay full retail price. I suggest you buy them online(it's cheaper).

Get prepaid. I'm on prepaid with ATT and I'm paying much less now than I was when I had a post paid account.

Straight Talk (Walmart) $45 for unlimited on a smart phone, $35 unlimited on a dumb phone. It all gets rather confusing for me. Let us know what you end up doing, OK?

Hey that's not bad at all, what kind of phone do you have? Is all the other features free with the plan?

Boost mobile is contract free and $50 per month for unlimited texts, calls, data. They have some promo where if you pay your bill on time it will be reduced to $35 per month but I'm sure there is a catch involved.

Same, but I don't know if I suggest it. The coverage is so-so and if you ever need customer service or a new phone FUHGET ABOUT IT

It took me a week and a half to get my phone replace when it broke.

No contract. Just check the coverage map to be sure they're good for you. And as long as you don't have a problem supporting the people's republic of Walmart/China! LOL.

I'm with T-mobile. For $30/month, I get 1500 minutes & texts (each text counts as a minute) and 30 Mb of data. It works for me.

Okay here's the latest update so I talked to some people and it sounds like in a contract you get the best coverage, but you can't get less than 80 or 90 a month which is too much I want to pay somewhere from 30-50. So I noticed that to add a line on a Verizon family plan it's only $40 for a smart phone, unlimited everything. So I'm not out to my family and I don't want them to see certain people I text or talk to etc. How much privacy are we talking...?

@aquatic: Your family will not have access to your texts or calls, they will only be saved and viewable through your phone. The only thing that is displayed on the bill/ online account is your text/minute/ data usage.

@squintz: I believe AT&T is gsm carrier, and virgin is CDMA. Because they are different frequencies, it's unlikely, if not impossible.

@jmusmc85: $90 with sprint, doesn't get much better under a 2 year contract.
