Amy Goodman is one of the most well-known and well-respected journalists in the United States. She has received journalism’s top honors for her reporting and has a distinguished reputation of bravery and courage. The arrest of Goodman, Kouddous and Salazar is a transparent attempt to intimidate journalists from the nation’s leading independent news outlet.

This is what a police state looks like:

I don't feel sorry for those that don't obey an order from a police officer. You have rights as an individual but so do others.

What was she doing wrong? It wasn't made clear in the video, other than not listening to a police officer's order.

One is only required to obey lawful orders from police. They are citizens like we are and we pay the police as public servants.

If a cop says 'jump,' do you say 'how high'?

The request has to be reasonable of course.

Thanks for the link to the story.

She will have her day in court along with the others that were arrested, and if she is innocent, she will be found not guilty. I think the courts are fair and balanced.

Amy Goodman isn't well respected as a journalist. There's Bias and then there's Amy Goodman, Bias on steroids, better known as Propaganda.

Thanks for the good news, I hope she got the drunk tank.

"In 1991, covering the independence movement in East Timor, Goodman and fellow journalist Allan Nairn were badly beaten by Indonesian soldiers after they witnessed a mass killing of Timorese demonstrators in what became known as the Dili Massacre.[6] She has speculated that the only thing that spared her the fate of the Australian-based journalists who were killed in East Timor in 1975 was an American passport; the United States was providing military support to the Indonesian army at the time. The U.S. did not cut off military aid to Indonesia until 1993."

"Goodman has received dozens of awards for her work, including the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and the George Polk Award."

Sorry John43620! Amy was released though her colleauges are still being held.

With these kinds of awards, what makes you say she is not well respected?

I have this sneaking suspicion that, if something like this had happened to Griff Jenkins at the DNC in Denver, you'd be singing another tune. Anyway, I think they've officially revoked your gay card, John. It wouldn't come as any surprise if we were to find that you're just an RNC mole who has been sent to RJ to spread right-wing disinformation.

Like I've said in a couple other forums, John is just a yippy little lap dog trying to gain favor with the big dogs who want nothing to do with him.

I think he may be slightly retarded, also.

As often as I have defended John, it is pretty appalling to say something like that.

I've no idea who Amy Goodman is.

But if john46320 doesn't like her. Then she's alright by me.

    Thanks, my thoughts also.

Every single time he post it is from the far right.

I like Amy and like her style of reporting.

Amy provides a bullhorn to everyone who hates America and never shows a counterview on any issue. Considering her a "Legitimate Journalist" is a stretch. She's just a leftwing version of Rush Limbaugh.

I watch her just to see what the leftwing wackos are saying. I often find her broadcasts hilarious.

For instance, she had some leftwing activist from India on who was going on about how she (the activist) hates liberalism. Amy was totally thrown off balance, because, Amy must have never had a political science course and doesn't understand the definition of the term liberalism. A lot of Americans suffer from that misunderstanding.

Another time she had John Conyers Jr. on, you know it's going to be funny when that clown speaks without Maxine Waters to help him along. Conyers was supposed to be complaining about the private corporations assuming the IMF loans of failed African states and making policy for those states. Instead he went on railing about the Bush administration building secret military bases in Africa. Amy's face lit up, she thought she had a scoop.
Amy asked the obvious question, "where are these bases? Conyers faultered, stuttered and then admitted that he didn't know. The crestfallen look on Amy's face was priceless. My sides were hurting.

Amy should call her program "End Democracy Now" if she had any commitment to the truth.

It is a waste of tax payer dollars to provide cities with money to buy riot gear and non-lethal means of riot control. 00 Buckshot is far cheaper. A good supply of shotguns, buckshot and a compacting garbage truck is far more cost effective. Why use expensive pepper spray? 00 chilled buckshot does a much better job.

Killing people for exercising the freedom to protest. Wow, welcome to John's Police State.

She may be found innocent in court, but the point is that the GOP got rid of her when and where they needed to. This is the party of "shoot first and ask for forgiveness later", which works great in a society with such a short memory.

FYI, there will be no trial as they were all released. Could this be interpreted as an admission of harassment? Naaahh...

I downloaded and subscribed to the Democracy Now podcast this week just to check this all out.

She definitely is a great journalist... I saw some youtube clips of her taking conservatives to task for beating on Islam so much.

No wonder why we are best buddy lol She is not pro-government or anti-government. She is pretty much pro-peace and justice. I love the way she talk about Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Iraq war.

Amy Goodman is the ONLY Q & A guest (or any guest ever on C- Span) that Brian Lamb has gotten mad at because he caught her in so many lies. Brian Lamb is a great guy and very even tempered .Nobody knows or cares were East Timor is, Amys big claim to fame. She claims to have been caught in some battle (were she knows she should not have been in the first place) and of course her story has major anti-american bias. By-the -way it is a very tiny island near Java, if that gives anybody a clue. See nobody cares.

I know where East Timor is and I care. The US was responsible for many deaths in that country.

Can you cite the Brian Lamb interview?

Look it up. I gave you the source - C-Span. She was flumoxed half of the time because most of the believers never question her they just buy it hook line and sinker.
Believe me people don't care-they have real lives with real caring for people in their daily lives.
    Quit bleeding.

You're aware an ABC producer was also arrested at the DNC for being on a sidewalk outisde a hotel where lobbyists were sponsoring a party?

I'm not a Republican, but don't fool yourself into thinking Democrats don't pull the same stunts.

Amazing, someone on this site actually had the ability to research on their own without being spoon fed by the MoveOn.org what to think. Yes, he was doing a story on the the Goodie that the Demos were getting from their Rich Corporate Friends.

The sad fact is that many people that believe in helping people on the grass roots level, believe that the Democrats are some how better and more effective in actually help people. The fact of the mater is that regardless of party membership the vast majority of Federal Level politicians and party leaders are only in it for themselves. They will say what ever they think they need to say to get elected.

The cool-aid drinkers of both parties think that their guy is the "hope for the future." When the reality is, the less that government does the better for the people. If the Democrats stayed out of my pockets and the Republics stay out of my pants I'd be a happier camper and the country would be a much better place.
