Hey guys, living in the sun has it's bonuses but I am needing to see some cold and snow this winter and therefore planning to go skiing in the US or Canada in January. Looking for a good resort that has primarily good skiing (and snow) for an advanced level but also looking for a decent gay friendly social life as I am heading out solo, the latter is not essential but a bonus! Any ideas on resorts and places to stay would be appreciated!
    Thanks for your time! ;)

If you're willing to hop the border, you should get a pass to Banff, Sunshine and Lake Louise. They all have a ton of runs (over 350 collectively for sure), and one pass can get you in all three. At least one of them always have unreal powder (and usually all three do except the odd year when one got left out icon_razz.gif), but you can avoid that risk and still increase the number of runs.

Aspen Gay Ski Week is January 13-20. What could be better? Great skiing and a really good party town full of gay guys. Buy a pass to the Caribou Club if it isn't too expensive. Lots of Hollywood people. In the basement of one of the downtown buildings. Great bar and dancing.

I need to fly back here on the 15th otherwise Aspen sounds good fun, but Banff and the 350 runs and good powder sound really appealling, thanks for that, hoping to book it all in the next week and really looking forward to it. I'll let you know what I go for in the end!

Ya, let me know. We're thinking of skiing this year, too. Btw, Banff is beautiful; I just don't know if you'll find much nightlife. Didn't used to be but maybe that has changed.

I still think Sun Valley is one of the greatest mountains in the west. Its a little isolated but amazing.

Best challenging runs in the USA are in my opinion, Telluride, Jackson Hole and Ajax (Aspen).

I love to ski and these are some of my favorite places.

Good luck and don't break a leg.

Salt Lake is where it's at. A 50 minute drive from the airport to the lifts of 6 or 7 resorts. Not to mention we already have a base of 4ft at most of the resorts...Just saying. icon_wink.gif
