Will be in the following cities next year. Friend is renting a house with a pool near the Lasquax Caves in Dordogne. I know there are many things to see. I'll be there for a week. Other cities visiting are Toulouse, Carcassonne, The beaches, Bordeaux and lots of wine. We will have a car. Not going to Provence.

I don't know that area, but my suggestion is to get a red Michelin guide to locate good restaurants in out of the way places. Some of my best meals in France have been found that way (and not 2 or 3-star restaurants).

Montpellier is the city to see in this part of France (South-West). You could also stop by Roquefort on the way to taste the cheese at its source.
