You poor baby...becoming unhinged before our very eyes. You know in your hear that Romney is about to win this election and it's got you all worked up. Not to worry little HottJoe, it's going to be okay. It will all be over soon icon_wink.gif

    Your post is absolute crap.

I'm not a fan of Romney, but to use religiously divisive tactics like this to persuade someone to vote for Obama is a form of desperation that frankly the Obama side doesn't need to resort to.

Mormons weigh in gay rights, and come out against them, yet a gay man on a gay site shouldn't question mormonism??? Sorry, but your logic will get us all killed.

Mormons aren't Christians. They don't believe in the fundamental beliefs of all Christians. You're obviously confusing them with another religion.

I don't believe in either of them, but what I REALLY don't believe in is fear mongering. Jewish people aren't Christian either but I guess it wouldn't keep you from going on some anti-Semitic tirade if we had Joe Lieberman running for president. You are trying to manipulate people's opinion of someone by appealing to their fear of someone different than them and then you are condemning the Mormon church of doing the same thing. Don't you see the irony in what you are doing?

Mormons have weighed in on gay rights and come out against them. As a gay man, I am against what they stand for, and I'll be as outspoken as I want. I think they are a hate machine.

Sounds like you are blissfully ignorant, but if you scratch the surface of mormonism, you'll see that have prophesied a moron king turning the U.S. into their "Kingdom on earth."

They are a huge threat to liberty, and freedom of religion. All gay people should know who their oppressors are.

I've done more than scratch the surface of Mormonism. My partner was raised Mormon and his parents, who I love dearly, are Mormon. Sure I may be called blissful but ignorant is going to be relative in this case.

I'm not oppressing mormons. As an organization, they are anti gay. Just because you love them doesn't change the fact that their religion preaches against homosexuality and funds the anti gay movement. Romney has personally spoken out against gay rights, and that's the official stance of his church.

I'm happy for you and your partner, but you are certainly ignorant if you don't realize you're supporting the hate machine.

It's one thing to say that Mormonism (as well as most other belief systems) is wrong in how it treats homosexuals. I can agree with you on that point. It's another to then use the same fear tactics that they use to try to sway people to your side. At a certain point Hitler used a general distrust of the Jews to get a group of people to see that they were evil. He convinced an entire group to believe that they were evil because they believed a certain way and that the difference they had was an evil to rise against. He used the same tool of fear that a lot of religions use to this day against gay people. It’s dangerous no matter who uses it. Getting one group to fear another group is an effective tool to divide people if that is your goal.

    There is a better way.

Being defensive toward, and questioning the agenda of an anti gay group is hardly hate. If I questioned the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal and reasoned that they shouldn't be in positions of power, would you compare to me to Hitler? You're the one using hate speech by comparing me to Hitler.

The bottom line is, you can choose to believe in a religion, or not, but you can't choose to be straight, and therefore my battle is against religious oppression in all forms. Currently, I see that oppression coming directly from the mormon church.

The point of the thread is that Christians who deny Obama's Christianity and claim that he's in the muslim brotherhood are hypocrites, because they're not even voting for a Christian. They're voting for a mormon.

Also, we can't overcome opression by being opressors. You don't conquer hate with more hate.

Wow, you're comparing a gay man speaking out against a gay hate group to Hitler??? Talk about using scare tactics. I find your pro gay hate speech to be self serving and twisted.

I can sort of sympathize with people who were raised in the cult, because they are brainwashed, but you are actually attacking me for speaking out against an untenable homophobic agenda.

Yes, I am. You aren't just speaking out against homophobia. You are using the same divisive tactics in your original post that you are condemning them of and the same tactics that started the downfall in thinking that leads to dehumanizing a group of people based on their beliefs.

Just as rape is rape..... hate is hate. You are just looking for legitimate hate.

Speaking out against homophobia (or now pedophilia) is not the issue here, it's the straw man you are creating. That's not where the similarities lie in the thinking you share with Hitler. Its in vilifying a group of people because of their belief system. People do the same to us as a group and it's just as ugly.

I'm not trying to use the same fear tactics you used I'm pointing out uses of those tactics throughout history and their collective outcomes. Your attempt to make me out to be hypocritical in pointing this out is just another ruse you are using.

I'm not a fan of Romney, but to use religiously divisive tactics like this to persuade someone to vote for Obama is a form of desperation that frankly the Obama side doesn't need to resort to.

Sorry, but I'm really appalled that you would compare me to Hitler. You need to read "The Pink Triangle," which is about the murder of gays in Nazi concentration camps. I think you'll see that oppressive, homophobic organizations like the mormon church more aptly deserve the comparrison to Hitler.

All I'm trying to do is point out the hypocrisy of the Christian right. You're acting as though questioning mormons for their outspoken hatred of gays is, in and of itself, hate.

Give me a break! Quit supporting the hate machine, Uncle Tom!!!icon_mad.gif

CuriousJockAZ has already made the case against Romney.

    As he says so well,

HERE'S WHY NO GAY MAN SHOULD VOTE FOR MITT:

" I have stated many MANY times that I have a problem with Mitt Romney in a variety of areas -- not the least of which is
THE FACT THAT HE IS AGAINST "CIVIL UNIONS" , which I find perplexing and all kinds of disappointing.

I was also extremely disappointed that
HE SIGNED "THE PLEDGE" APPEASING THE FAR RIGHT regarding working towards a constitutional amendment for DOMA. "

You're trying to push one group against another and act as if you are a victim in it all. You are also trying to make it appear as if I condone homophobia if I don't join you in your attack on this group. I never compard you to Hitler just the tactic you resorted to. You are using your fear as a weapon. It does nothing but breed hate. You can call me any name you want it doesn't help you out. I wish you peace.

I will NEVER condemn all Mormons as homophobic or dishonest just because

the elites of the church hierarchy have been enemies of Gay Equality.

I believe that most Mormons are honest and sincere

    Even though

    MITT IS THE BIGGEST LIAR

to ever pursue the American presidency.

While I suspect that many Mormons take pride that a member of their church

is running for our highest office,

I doubt that many support Mitt's approach.

NO major faith rewards LYING !

When I asked if you were comparing me to Hitler, you said, "Yes, I am."

To quote Cash, "All that back peddling must be good cardio."

But back to the the topic. I never said I hated Mormons, I was only pointing out the hypocrisy of Christians who say Obama isn't Christian enough, when their alternative is a nonchristian.

    Maybe I wasn't PC enough for you?????icon_rolleyes.gif

The fact is, despite all of the lovely mormons who mean well, the organization that IS THE MORMON CHURCH puts their money where their mouth is, and that's on the side of gay hate.

Quit defending people who want to deny you your civil rights.
