Here's the new iPhone 5 I just got

It arrived via UPS late yesterday. I activated it through iTunes, and as I expected, it took the phone number for my partner's 4, not my 4S, since his older phone was eligible for the less expensive upgrade when I placed the online order, not my newer 4S.

So this morning I took our phones to our local AT&T store, and they swapped the numbers, putting my number on the 5, and his number on my 4S, which now becomes his phone. His 4 is now inactivated and in reserve, in case he has one of his infamous phone mishaps.

The phones are shown below, in front of my iMac. I got him another Otter Box cover, this time in his favorite red, because they're about the toughest. I put a simpler white cover on mine from (*) speck.

You'll note that with covers they're almost the same size. The 5 screen got bigger by one icon row partly by narrowing the case space above and below the screen. I've been so busy today that I haven't really sat down and checked it all out, but it does seem faster, it's certainly lighter and a bit thinner. But overall a nice size in the hand.

BTW, I finally put his iPhone into the cloud, that now includes both our iPhones, my iMac, and the iPad. The second iPad that's arriving in a couple of weeks will also be in iCloud. The only device not in the cloud is his MacBook Pro, because he runs Windows on it, a holdover from his last office job. I may wait until I get him a new computer to complete the changeover to 100% Apple.

In the meantime he seems sold on the idea of the cloud, after I showed him that anything either of us puts into Contacts or Calendar goes into every device. No more his asking me: "Did you put my doctor's appointment in your calendar?" and "Does your calendar show that I've got an appointment today?" Everything we use will show the same thing within seconds of entry, regardless of whatever device it's entered into.

A simple wireless concept I know a lot of guys here already use, but it took me a while to make it happen with us.

I just got a new bottle of Kahlua a couple hours ago. It makes me feel better than having an "Apple" a day. icon_razz.gif

LOL! Well, honest to gawd, Paul, I also got a bottle of Kahlua 2 hours ago, as well. Too bad that Steve Jobs didn't name his company "Kahlua".

Well he sure made an otherwise silly naming concept into a goldmine. After he returned to Apple there was the iMac, then the iPod, iTunes, iMovie, iLife, iWork, iPhone, iOS, iCloud, iPad, iEverything.

And now I think I need an iDrink, with that Kahlua bottle I bought earlier.
