Tough Mudder

I'd like to do Tough Mudder next spring (it helps if I have a training goal) and was wondering if anyone would like to join me. I could do it alone, but would really like to have someone along for the ride.

I guess somewhere 2-3 states away from Ohio would be ideal, but I have a butt load of frequent flier miles, so I could go just about anywhere.

    Any takers?

Why is it always the hot old guys who do the Tough Mudder thing? Are the hot young guys too pussified to try?

Tough Mudder was awesome. I just ran it this past Saturday in Kentucky. I heard several runners say it was the hardest one they had done because of all the freakin hills. Will definitely do it again.

OK, I'm just going with you think that I'm a hot older guy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Looking at Mt Snow in Vt... about a 2:30 or 2:45 finishing time. But TM isn't allowing registration yet. I'm wondering if Mt. Snow is balking?

I did a TM at the beginning of the month...Best time I have had in a long time!! Make sure you get a group of people to do it with...the more the better, it helps at a lot of the obstacles to have someone there helping you out. I swore towards the end that I had done this and I would never do another one...well three days later I signed up for another one in April....icon_surprised.gif

You do not have to be in great shape to complete one....just the desire...

Same experience here - ran Austin three weeks ago and thought for a while that it was the stupidest thing I had ever done. Just signed up for the next one in April.

I did the one in Touugh Mudder NorCal Diablo something or other last month. I did it painfully hung over with no training, I don't train for marathons or Olympic distance tris either but have a pretty solid base level of fitness.

Was totally fun and not difficult at all, I finished in two hours. The point is not the training but the teamwork and commradery.

Am doing it again next year with my nephew but in Tahoe.
Not to brag... but I could have finished it without a team, even hung over.
It's so fun but it's not really THAT difficult to finish, it's all about your team.

Find a Spartan Beast at a ski resort (most are). Most physically demanding obstacle course race I've ever been through and I've got about 20 under my belt including TM.

A group of people is what I'm aiming for! I know the camaraderie will make it more fun.

I've done the Warrior Dash with friends. That was a blast, even though I ran it with strep throat and a fever of 102.5.

My besties did it this past summer in Toronto, and they've inspired me to do it this year.

Boston in May. Easy to get to, plenty of places to stay, great people from all over New England.

I ran Mt Snow in July and it was an amazing course. Boston probably wont be as vertically challenging but I'm sure TM will come up with plenty to compensate.

    Go for it.

    I'm already registered.

Have run a few TM's and other mud runs.

You will have FUN running Tough Mudder!

Mt. Snow is ALL hills....You basically run up and down the Black Diamond ski slopes. The majority of the obstacles are at the bottom, sort of clumped together. Finished in just over 4 hours.

Tampa was FLAT. Finished in 3 hours.

We thought Mt. Snow was going to be brutal, it was a challenge but Tampa was tougher and a better race overall.

Dare I say that I am kind of bored with the mud runs and now looking for something else.

    Any suggestions.
