    I'm not a religious person, so the subject line is kind of a misnomer, but I'll take any help I can get!!! Here's the story: I'm going to Paris for the first time ever!!! Update: Maybe.

    My psychiatrist literally prescribed Paris last month. She said I just had to book a trip, end of story, even though she technically isn't allowed to tell me what to do. So I booked a trip, which will be my first week-long vacation since 2001. And then my sister decided to join me. We are leaving this Wednesday from Dulles Airport outside of D.C.

    And then comes this frickin hurricane called Sandy, who will be churning her fat ass up the east coast early this week. She's supposed to have moved along to New England by Wednesday, but I'm pretty sure that's smack in the middle of the flight pattern across the Atlantic between D.C. and Paris.

    :::whimper:::

    I have such bad luck. I'm hoping this will all blow over, literally, but if it doesn't, I am going to blame myself for bringing this storm on by daring to book an actual vacation and thus making the universe generate a 'perfect storm' to make sure it doesn't happen.

    For someone who isn't religious, it seems you are replacing religion with superstition. icon_wink.gif

    ,,and here's a song to go with that, with lyrics in the vid. icon_wink.gif

    I hope that doesn't mean you carry around a lucky rabbit's foot.

    Superstition and religion are perfect together. That is why I am drifting towards atheism.

    I always considered myself an atheist, but now it depends entirely on the definition. Do I believe in a big guy in the sky who hand-crafted everything? Not even half as much as I believe in Santa Claus. But a universal consciousness and the potential of interdimensional beings of unintelligible constitution? I've seen no proof of any such thing, but I'm limited to five senses, at least two of which are impaired, so, I dunno.

    No, I don't have a rabbit foot. But I did once write a short story called "claws" about Santa Claus giving a rabbit's foot to a boy. It didn't end pleasantly.

    Prayer has nothing to do with religion.

    It is, however, the only true form of change-- A change in the soul.

    The only prayer ever needed is 'Thank You'.

    Interesting comment. I experienced a new kind of pure gratitude a few months ago and it was life changing. It didn't exactly erase my depression-prone sensibility, but it did reset my outlook--on everything.
