HIV risk from Insertive Fellatio (receiving) + Kissing?

    Hi all,

I'm very worried about this and would appreciate it if you kindly shared your knowledge of HIV on this matter...

I've had routine blood tests for HIV in Sep 2011 and Jan 2012, and both tests came out negative. I am still a virgin (never engaged in penetrative sex - vaginal or anal).

I visited an escort in Sep 2012. We engaged in kissing + she gave me unprotected oral sex on my penis + I ejaculated in her mouth + I sucked her breasts. I did not see any blood in her mouth and I did not have any sores or cuts on my penis. I never gave any oral sex to her.

4 weeks after this encounter, I went to the sexual health clinic as I was worried about the risk of HIV. The advisor insisted that I do not need a HIV test as I apparently "did not have a HIV risk" and he did not "want to "collude with my anxiety by taking a HIV test for a no-risk encounter". He only took urine samples to test for other possible STD's and said the results would be available in 2 weeks. He said I could take a HIV test at the 3 month mark if I really want to (for peace of mind).

The escort agency claims to test their workers regularly but there is no way I can verify this.

What do you think? Was I at any real risk? Do I need to take a HIV test? And when should I take it?

I honestly think that you're fine. The risk for contracting HIV from receiving fellatio is very low. You ejaculated into her mouth; she'd be at a way higher contracting an STI than you.

You had no cuts or sore on your penis? She had no blood in her mouth? I can see no way how the virus could have been transferred.

She could have had some open sores or microtears in her mouth, true, but even then if you had no open wounds/cuts/sores on your penis, then you're fine.

I really think that you have nothing to be worried about. I think you're suffering from a guilty conscious more so than an STI.

Note: Any more knowledgeable members please feel free to correct me/offer other advice.

I think you are fine. It is good to see that you have some sort of care and caution about your health and potentially risky behavior. Even though you went to an escort, it was probably still safer than hooking up with some random, unknown super whore from the street/net. I doubt you will be doing this again, so I think the only 2 things that you got from this encounter were an escort experience and a scare/lesson learned.

boys behave. As a receiver, your chance of getting infected are very low. Get tested if that will give you peace of mind. (it will come out negative, obviously)

The information you get at the health clinic is sure to be better than the advice you would get from random guys on the internet. Stop second guessing the health professionals on this one.

Thanks for your replies everyone icon_smile.gif

I understand that if the woman was HIV+, the chances of me catching HIV is estimated at 0.005%, but even that is a scary thought should I be so unlucky! Have any of you ever heard of anyone catching HIV from receiving a blowjob - in circumstances such as mine?

I will probably go for a 6 week test (in 10 days) to help put my mind at ease in the meantime, and perhaps a 3 month test (in Jan) to draw a line under it.

there has not even been one recorded case in scientific literature of someone contracting HIV from even GIVING a blowjob. Saliva and even AIR kill the virus. You need an airtight space ie (vigina, bumhole or syringe) in order to contract it, don't worry.

Agreed. If the virus was easily transmitted we'd all have died long ago. The virus needs ideal conditions, and the mouth does not provide those conditions.

    STOP CALLING YOURSELF A VIRGIN.
Anal/vaginal sex is just one form of sex. Many people do not like penetrative sex and go their whole lives never engaging in it, but they are not virgins. Good grief. icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh, that's interesting, I just read an article a couple of months ago of a man who contracted HIV by giving a blowjob, and he didn't even swallow. Maybe you should tell him that?

Yeah, it's possible, and so is getting struck by lightening. I used to work as a volunteer at an HIV testing clinic, and I can tell you that people lie their asses off about what type of sex they engage in! I can't tell you how many times I've had guys tell me they contracted it from oral sex, but later I found out from their close friend or partner that they secretly loved to get fucked. And there's no way of proving what sex act got them infected, but after all these years we pretty much know that it's getting fucked without a condom that usually does it.

I understand my encounter was near-zero risk for HIV, but I took the tests for peace of mind.

At the 4-week mark, I was tested for Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia = both were NEGATIVE. At the 6-week mark, I took a HIV-Duo test for HIV and a test for Syphilis = both were NEGATIVE! icon_biggrin.gif

    -
By the way, I have a couple of general questions about the HIV-Duo test:

    1. How long do p24 antigens remain detectable in the body? As I understand, levels of p24 antigens peak in the first couple of weeks and then start to drop. Would these antigens remain in the body at a detectable level at 6 weeks, for the Duo test to pick it up?

    2. As for the antibody portion of the test, are HIV antibodies always detectable at 6 weeks?

    Thanks in advance!

"2. As for the antibody portion of the test, are HIV antibodies always detectable at 6 weeks? "

    I can take this one...

    short answer: No

long answer: Antibodies are something YOU produce. So, 'always' is relative to you and your body's immune system. HIV antibodies are produced in quantities that are detectable by a rapid HIV test confidently (95%) at 90 days past infection. I can not speak for another type of antibody test. Some people are slow to produce antibodies and it may take upwards of 6 months to have enough to trigger a positive result (if there is HIV present). Thus, counselors tell us to come back after another 90 days from the last known risky incident to ensure there was not a false negative.

    Hope that helps.

Actually my dear, just like sex Virginity is also defined in numerous terms.

One being that unless you have never been penetrated you are still a virign hence terms like this.

He's hinting that he'd rather have gotten head from a guy I think. Anyway, oral sex, on the cummy receiving end, and kissing, are not a transmission point for the HIVirus, otherwise every gay man on the planet would be dead. HIV is not considered a deadly virus anymore. The supreme court has ruled on that one.

ARE YOU A FUCKING MORON LIVING IN THE 1980'S? Get educated, you dolt. Ignorant ass people like you stigmatize HIV unnecessarily. Are you scared from getting it from the drinking fountain also?

I was more amused the fact that its a woman who gave it to him. Maybe she's a trans?

Aside from that, this does raise the topic of sex education and stds/hiv/aids and people are still clueless.
