How important is virginity?

How important is virginity to you? Are you a virgin “holding out” for someone special? Do you care whether or not your first sexually active relationship is with a virgin? Do any of you regret losing your virginity at the time or with the person that you did?

And lastly, virgins are usually associated with terrible sex because of their inexperience. Do you think holding onto virginity is discouraged in gay culture? I know I asked a lot of questions. You can choose to answer all or just one of them.

Well although I dont really relate to the majority of the questions I will say that I regret who I chose to have my first time with. It was an online hookup with a sweet talking oldie who turned out not to be so sweet at all. I get sore just thinking about his technique D:

I feel like these "virginity" questions apply more toward heterosexual relationships. I dont think "virginity" really hold any value to gays...

It's not like men have these vaginas that can be "deflowered" aka the hymen is broken...men dont have that....they have assholes that can be penetrated, but there is no cultural signifigance to it. It's just a dude gettin dick up his ass.

Well I dont know if I would necessarily agree with that. While it is true that in the physical sense a man cant really be "deflowered" but I think alot of people would agree that there are psychological and emotional connections made when having sex.. I don't think many of us after our first time went "Well that was interesting, I wonder whats on tv now." and I would also think that most gay people are nervous for the first time they have sex, because its important to them

I guess what im trying to say is that virginity may not hold as much importance as it does with heterosexuals, but I do think that it matters.

geez I sound like a rambling tard @_@

I don't think virginity hold the same value to men as it does for women... we don't get pregnant and we don't have that little piece of membrane that gets torn when a woman losses her virginity. And actually, all throughout history men were expected to be experienced on the wedding night, so this concept is a completely modern day concept made up by Christian fundamentalists.

Its not really important to me, just something I have. Ideally I'd like to lose it with my first bf, but a friend would be okay too. As long as its not a hook-up. I don't care if a guy still has his virginity, and yes virginity is discouraged in gay culture (and it seems like all cultures these days icon_rolleyes.gif )

I don't know if all virgins are bad at sex to begin with. I think it all has to do with the person. Like most areas of life, its all about how you act (courage, relazed, nervos etc.)

I'm curious to see if my first time having sex will be bad since I've spent so much time "researching" how to do it right. Please don't comment on that last statement icon_redface.gif

The only reason virginity is even a thing is because of an archaic religious and Victorian carryover. All human beings are built to have sex at one point in their lives shortly after their bodies achieve sexual maturity (psychologically probably not just as they achieve sexual maturity, but a few years after). It is a natural process. Yes, it's important to be educated and informed and responsible with it. But it is stupid to suppress it because of an ill conceived notion of moral superiority or waiting for some media-influenced perfect fairy tale partner soulmate who we will gift this magical virginity too.

I just read in another thread that you're not a virgin if you've had oral sex, (according to Scruffypup, anyway). That means I lost my virginity in fifth grade, while experimenting with my best friend on a sleepover... I actually had a lot of best friends, and we had a lot of sleepovers.icon_redface.gif

I never started having anal sex until I was out of the closet and had boyfriends. I came out in high school, in ninth grade, after failing two relationships with girls, both of which involved baaad, nasty vagina sex. I was never really a bottom until I was in my 20s though--or at least that's when I started to enjoy it enough to let it happen for more than two seconds without stopping. The first guy to ever really give it to me was actually a priest, which is kind of weird. He wasn't Catholic though, and I was thankfully all grown up by then, hehe.

Now, in my 30s, I'm settled down in an 8 year relationship, and I couldn't be happier. My bf and I are the same age. He also had similar experiences experienting with friends growing up. In a way, we both got what we always wanted, best friends with benefits: monogamy edition.

Reading about all these 18+ virgins is funny to me. I wonder if they just haven't had the opportunity, or if they've actually turned down sex. Not there's anything wrong with it.

I'm glad I have some experience under my belt, but I wish I would have waited for a better person. It was just in the back of some meathead's car and he was terrible and it was not worth it. Kind of turned me off from sex, I'm still not much of a horny guy. Damn you random meathead guy!

Lol, that means I lost it a bit earlier than you! Hey maybe I'm not quite as pathetic as I thought! icon_razz.gif

There are lots of people who never do anal, so for that to be the only definition of "sex" means a lot of people are still virgins.

also i dont think virgins are bad in bed entirely because of their lack of expierence.. maybe too much porn leads them to think things should be done a certain way?

Oh don't flatter yourself, there's been numerous virgin-related topics since the dawn of age.

Anybody who thinks actual real life sex is in any form connected or similar to what porn depicts needs a very urgent reality check.
