Moving this from the Ask DIN a Question thread:

If you could invite any 5 people (living or dead, real or fictional) to a dinner party, who would they be and why?
    For me:
Mark McGwire: My first sports hero. He broke my heart in the end but I'd like him to explain himself and maybe redeem himself in my eyes.
Bill and Hillary Clinton: They'd have to share a seat but I love me some Clintons.
Amy Adams: My imaginary wife. I'm first in line to see anything she's in.
Elphaba/The Wicked Witch of the West: Best character ever. I love trying to understand why people are the way they are. Another one with some 'splaining to do.
Wanda Sykes: The fifth chair would have to go to someone really funny. She never fails to crack me up.

My list copied from the other thread:

Amy Lee (of Evanescence) - She's my favorite singer/songwriter right now. I'd have a piano there so she could perform some of her songs for us.

Agatha Christie - I read her mystery stories growing up. I bet she'd be a clever lady to talk to.

Abraham Lincoln - I think he was probably our greatest president.

Spock - I think the perspective of a coldly logical mind would be interesting.

My future husband - I'd like to meet him already. I'm getting impatient.

    Only 5?

Fuck, the internet really has fucked up social interaction beyond repair.

I'm having a dinner party next weekend with over 10 people...only 1 of whom I met via RJ (and he recently deleted his account).

It's hard to get that many dead and fictional people together at the same time. But feel free to list more than five if you want.

Sofia Vergara -- voluptuous Colombian with charm who could add laughter and naughtiness

Robin van Persie -- Dutch soccer player whose parents were a painter and a sculptor; converted to Islam

Jesus - I think he would make a phenomenal dinner guest for two reasons. 1) He would make great conversation and could certainly bring clarity to the interpretations and misinterpretations of his "gospels"; 2) There would be no shortage of wine, loaves, or fishes.

Mitochondrial Eve - I would love to share time with our common maternal ancestor. I would love to learn how she met the "man" who would then become the "first family" of humanity.

Abraham - It would be interesting to hear his thoughts on the schism within his family tree along the lines of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, and how his view on how to unite the family tree.

Leonardo da Vinci - I would love to hear his views on the arts and sciences as they have evolved today, his thoughts on innovation, and his thoughts on Kurzweil's singularity.

Pandora - I want to know what was in that fucking box!

    For dead people:
Jesus. I'd like to ask him about the whole gay thing. And I wouldn't mind hearing the story of his life straight from his mouth.
My grandmother. Just so we could have a proper goodbye, and talk about her last years. (Long complicated story. It would be nice to get closure)

    Fictional:
Ryu from Street Fighter. I would love trying to fight him, just to say I did. Maybe get an autograph?

    Living:
Adam Levine: One of my two favorite singers. Just to tell him how great he is and that I love his music.
Vanessa Carlton: My other favorite singer. Again just to say how great she is and how much her music has done for me.

Actually it's quite easy. All I have to do is untie them and bring them up from the basement.

I didn't include any family members because I figured that's not what the OP intended, but yeah I miss a lot of people...okay, I just got teary eyed.

Jesse Lacey: Lead singer of my favorite band Brand New. Ever since 2001, this guy has been singing be to sleep, and raping my mind with his depth. I have a weird thing for words and lyrics and Jesse is like a God for me. I have some of his lyrics tattoo'd on my arm.

Neil Armstrong - I have a fetish for space, I really really *really* would die happy if I got to see what Earth looked like from a distant place, with my own eyes. I wanna know what he felt...damn I'd have alot of questions.

Fernando Torres - Huge fan of El Nino, got to see him play in the '08 EuroCup, would love to just have a beer and chat.

Famke Janssen - ...fucking Jean Grey...need I say more.

Joss Whedon - Mad fucking genius. Firefly, Buffy, Serenity, Cabin in the Woods...he's got an amazingly creative mind I'd love to pick through.
