Does taking metabolism pills help to lose body fat? What type of muscle building supplement is best?

I was recently told by a guy at the gym that taking metabolism pills to boost my metabolism will help me lose the body fat, like around my waist, etc., and that I should be drinking a muscle supplement shake to build muscles after each workout. I already drink a whey protein shake each time, but he says that I need more. He wasn't exactly a muscle guy, just thin with little definition so I haven't run out to buy stuff. Does anyone have thoughts, suggestions, or anything?!

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a "metabolism pill" or it would be selling like ice water in hell. The closest thing that might fit that description is ephedra, which really does help you lose weight without shedding muscle. But it was banned from sale by the FDA years ago. There has been some court rulings that relaxed that ban, but to the best of my knowledge, real ephedra is still not very commercially available and most supplement manufacturers have not returned to using it.

Ice cold water is caloric negative. It takes 1 calorie to turn one oz of ice cold water to core body temp. This is of course contingent on me remembering what I read, which is highly likely. icon_biggrin.gif

I found some very interesting articles on a bunch of different diet pills at http://the-diet-pills-report.com/articles/acai-berry-diet-oprah-show.
There are a few articles on "superfoods" and a new natural weight loss supplement called acai berry. There isn't a lot of info on acai berries but check out the article on Orvo.
