Just made a quick stop in London on the way back from Germany a few weeks ago. What an amazing city! Just out of curiosity, what would your advice be for someone who only had a day and half?

Walk through Green Park / St James' Park. Martini at Duke's in St James'. Duck in Chinatown. Opera at Covent Garden. Macaroons & hot chocolate at Laduree in the Piazza. Midnight martini at Savoy. Breakfast in the East End. Free art. Lunch at St John Bread & Wine. Bimble through Exmouth Market. Pub with a million beers at the end of the street. Dance show at Sadler's Wells.

    Job's a good un.

I spent the whole month of June this past summer in London! Stayed at the St. Ermins hotel for a week, then rented a flat in Kensington Church street, Notting Hill Gate neighborhood. It was wonderful, I walked everywhere, if it wasn't raining, then I took the underground, loved it! I got to see about 95% of everything I've ever wanted to see. I must have taken almost 3000 photographs. It was an experience I will never forget! Someday I hope I can come back. I wasn't even there two days and knew that I wanted to move to London, but didn't know how. It would have been nice to meet a local guy, even a London RJer there... I even had a chance to take a Thames water taxi down to Greenwich, and even got to Portsmouth, and Windsor Castle. Can any of you who don't live in London, imagine a whole month living there? It felt like I was a native! Spent the whole month of June there, got there the week after the Jubilee was done, and a month before the Olympics started.... It was truly a trip of a lifetime! Didn't matter that I didn't meet anybody, even an RJer.... Damn, I sure hope someday to be able to return...

    perfect thread.

Im going to london in december for a short time.
    1. What do you think are the 'must see' attractions of london?

Also 2., what are some good gay clubs that I may potentially like

I have been thinking about going. Blow out some ancient frequent-flyer miles. But preferably sometime when it's warm.
If I can figure out how to take some time off.

Actually I was thinking of a week or so in London and a week or so bicycle touring.

London in December means hot cider, venison hot dogs, cake and mulled wine. So I would camp out at Borough Market & Brick Lane. Shops will be crazy, parks will be damp - unless you get a clear day, in which case i would tramp up to Hampstead Heath, walk up Parliament Hill and then treck to Primrose Hill for a good pub.

For something to look at, the new tanks at Tate Modern are superb.

its not just about the city centre... A little further out of the city theres so much to see. If you are thinkng of making a trip dont just restrict yourself to one area... Its full of historical riches here, and you can pretty much get to the counties within half an hour.. Essex is a great place, lots of history and countryside... Then over the otherside of london you have hampton court... And further down towards the coast, Brighton.... Nice beach and great gay night life
