BUSTED: Romney campaign bought $5k of food for people to pretend to “donate” back to him at phony “storm relief event"

    From BuzzFeed/Americablog:

"The last-minute nature of the call for donations left some in the campaign concerned that they would end up with an empty truck. So the night before the event, campaign aides went to a local Wal Mart and spent $5,000 on granola bars, canned food, and diapers to put on display while they waited for donations to come in, according to one staffer. (The campaign confirmed that it “did donate supplies to the relief effort,” but would not specify how much it spent.)

Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, “What if we dropped off our donations up front? ”The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. “Just grab something,” he said.

Two teenage boys retrieved a jar of peanut butter each, and got in line. When it was their turn, they handed their “donations” to Romney. He took them, smiled, and offered an earnest “Thank you.”

The props that Romney's campaign purchased for the phony "donations" photo-op were not needed by the Red Cross, which specifies on its website that donations of canned food and other items are not helpful, due to the logistics of storing and transporting large quantities of such items.

I saw this report and it disgusted me
Not only did the little weasel lie when he said that he wasn't going to do any political rallies because of the storm
"He merely changed the name of the rally ... so it was for the victims of the storm"
He didn't even bother to check with the Red Cross about the nature of its donations for disaster relief

The RED CROSS has specifically stated do not send food or clothing to them because it will take extra time and money to sort through them
Instead they have told people to make donations
But the Lying scumbag that he is KNOWS full well that taking money at his faux rally would look bad in the press so instead he told people to bring food

Romney Minions worried that the people coming wouldn't bring enuf food ... they went to COSTCO and bought 5000 dollars worth of food
so they could hand to to people to give Romney a photo op

    A PHOTO OP ..... icon_confused.gif

    Wow republicans .... You SUCK

Since Obama has completely sunk in as "In charge " of the northeast. What happens in NYC/NJ has put a humongous question mark for next tuesday

Things are FAR worse in NY than is being reported on. With pending gas shortages and food shortages and the cold things can really turn bad quickly.

One can focus on Romney, but he is not in charge. Obama is.

Although in my mind it is not fair to Obama to blame a natural disaster on him. He stood in front and "owned it".

I can say Ny'ers and not as predictable as the liberal media would hope. People like Pierce Morgan never grew up in NY. They do not know the history of the snowball riots on Mayor Laguardia .

I'll take Gov. Christie's assessment of Obama's performance.

And Jon Stewart's words, "Obama found the light switch."

    Mr Med?

Do you seriously think in your crazed way of republican thinking that after being seen and doing all that he has for the East Coast ... plus being praised by both Mayor Blumberg and Chris Christie

.... That he will do anything but take ALL of Romney's votes in those areas
then you're more far gone than anyone thought

There might be Hospice for terminal cases like yours icon_wink.gif
Too bad ObamaCare didn't kick in in your neck-O-the Woods

GQ, Obama was already winning NY and NJ. Clearly Blumberg in NY and Christie in NJ were doing nothing all that substantial to help Romney win those states anyway.

meanwhile mounting evidence that something wrong happened in Benghazi.

Africom General Ham was relieved on duty on 9/11/2012. Hmmm same day of Benghazi. A weird day to make a command change?

reports say he wanted to send help but was overridden and forced into retirement . If true it is a horrific circumstance.

Last: in addition the Admiral in charge of the local strike group was ALSO relieved of command DURING a deployment. Highly unusual. It is regarding a investigation into "inappropriate judgement"

Kinda weird huh.... Maybe a bit more important than worrying about photo ops and who bought the jar of peanut butter?

The Blumberg and Christie endorsements weren't just for "Local" consumption
It showed all of America what Government means and stands for
and what can be done when people cross the aisle and bury their difference for the common good

It stood in STARK contrast to the complete and utter dysfunctional obstructionism that is the republican House and Senate in Washington
.... and stark contrast to the Bush Presidency when it dealt with a similar situation with Katrina
