See my response in the other topic (Jobs Report) to these ridiculous Reagan vs. Obama comparisons.

Reagan had alzheimer's when he ran for his second term... and won!icon_eek.gif

Obama is a MUCH better president than Reagan ever was. It's too bad republicans insist on being obstructionists. If only they would work with the president, instead of against him, we'd get a lot more done.

HottJoe, you do realize that if Romney implemented every single one of Obama's ideas that were shot down by the GOP, freedomisntfree would be cheering? Obama is only a tyrant in FIF's mind because he's liberal.

Quite frankly, if Mitty declared the US a communist ally to China the day after being elected, FIF and company would be fine with that because it was a Republican that did it.

Reagan was a deficit spending, tax raising, amnesty granting, pro-union, public-sector job creator. The tea baggers would have ran him out as a RINO like they have tried to do with any other Republican who has shown willingness to work with the evil socialists in Congress.

"Do you think the millionaire ought to pay more in taxes than the bus driver, or less?"

That wasn't some dirty hippie occupy Wall Street protester. That wasn't Warren Buffet. That wasn't Barack Obama. That was Ronald Reagan circa 1985 to a crowd of supporters.

    Their answer: "More."

The Republican party of today is unrecognizable from the Republican party my father signed up for when he voted for Reagan. It's more like the John Birch Society with an internet connection.

Not disagreeing with a word you said. Just adding to it.

The media was appropriately tough on Regan (Sam Donaldson)

the current media has a love affair with Obama.

very few with the exception of Jay Tapper and Fox news ask him tough questions.

And his Press Conferences are rare events.

Reporters such as Bob Wordward chronicle the President as being in a "bubble" with seemingly no desire to compromise. His arrogance has turned off bothe the republican and democratic leaders of congress.

Reagan had a House that was willing to work with him. Obama doesn't have a House that is willing to work with him.

Didn't Reagan invent the concept of Modern Extreme Deficit Spending?

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahhaha. You really have lost it now. Must be the F-E-A-R as The Obama Era draws N-E-A-R. "4 More Days! 4 More Days! 4 More Days!"

You have to wonder how many Gay men/and others died because Ronald Reagan did nothing about AIDS. If only he had been courageous enough to have acted on facts and not the Republican nonsense.

Aristoshark saidReagan was perhaps the worst president ever. His loony economic ideas finally brought our country to its knees five years ago, Make no mistake---everything that led to the meltdown was a direct consequence of supply-side voodoo. The dot-com bubble, the stock market collapse, the housing bubble---all directly attributable to the juvenile nonsense parading itself as economic theory of the GOP since 1980.

It was all based on smoke and mirrors, every bit of it. "Prosperit├┐", such as it was, was propped up first by the massive migration of women into the workforce---prompted more by necessity than choice---because of the diminishing power of the single wage-earner. Then, when the effects of that were assimilated, came the credit boom, which allowed people to go on spending as if they still had increasing purchasing power. But they didn't, not really, and so the crushing accumulation of credit card debt.

And why have real incomes barely budged on the 99% since 1980? Look how many billionaires there are. That's where the productivity gains all went to. Not to the workers...and those who revered him, then and now, are fools.

The use of the word traitor is overly misused in political discussions, and that applies here. The definition is quite explicit in the US Constitution. That said, it's otherwise an excellent analysis of the legacy of the Reagan years. Let's also remember that he invented Modern Extreme Deficit Spending and he raised taxes several times.

OP, you're a hypocrite. Reagan started the war on drugs, and you're obviously smoking crack if you think Romney's going to win.

And you can quote me on that.icon_rolleyes.gif
