    Why me, lord!

    First bizarre phenomenon:

I posted pics from our RJ get-together last night. I took the pics on my iPhone...not the newest one. The model before...I guess.

On people's computers, the pics on the thread look rightside up. On an iPhone or iPad, they are upside down.

    Any idea why?

    Second bizarre phenomenon:

When I try to post a reply to a thread using my iPhone, it bumps me off of RJ. This is new. Maybe it has to do with the new OS 6 ...or whatever it's called.

But I dont get bumped off if I write an email or a reply to an email. I can do that fine.

    Does this happen to others?

Switch to Samsung Galaxy SIII with Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Everybody knows that iPhone is just so "Two Thousand and Late". It's just as dead as Jobs.

Have you jail broken your devices?

    1. I don't know about the first one.

    2. Have you upgraded to iOS 6.0.1?

But seriously, it may be easier to diagnose if you post screen shots/screen captures of the phenomena in question. I don't own an iPhone but, short of video chatting with you, I think people in general will have a hard time coming up with a solution/diagnosis.

Are the pictures upside down in your phone storage? If so, rotating the picture to right side up should resolve the issue. Most browsers try to correct that by allowing the option to rotate the image at upload.

By bump off do you mean you get logged off? Does the reply get posted to the thread? Does your browser crash? That isn't something that has ever happened to me. But I'm using a GS III so I don't really understand what could be causing an issue like that for an Apple device.

It's upside down when I look at it as well. Not just an issue with Caslon's device.

Further proof that Safari sucks hard. The pics come out just fine on my desktop and on my mobile browser. Maybe it's a known issue. Have you checked the Apple help forums

It looks fine in Safari on my PC. It's only on my iDevices that the pictures are flipped.

    Holding it wrong© perhaps? icon_wink.gificon_lol.gif

My guess is that mobile Safari isn't reading the image orientation info correctly. I say, do nothing. It's obvious that Safari is broken, not the image itself or the camera. If it's really bothering you, try running the images through an image editor and strip the EXIF data. Or run it through Instagram, but don't apply the filters.

Found some information on the first problem. The images are really upside down. Safari on iPhone/iPad respects the image orientation stored in the photo while other browsers ignore it. I found the information in this thread.

The solution is quite simple really if you'd stand on your head while taking the pics

This is great! Thanks, DIN. But how do I hold a phone upside down? Which way is up when I'm taking a landscape pic???

    Home button on the left....

    Home button on the right....

Ok, they both look right side up on my computer. But the one on top is upside down on my phone.

So, now I know to take future pics with the Home button on the right. .... Help me remember, guys, at the next get-together.

And like I said, you can always strip the EXIF data from the pic as well.

    Also, buffalo.
