Hi everybody, this is my first birthday thread. I'm 24 today and I'm hoping that this age will be a great year for me and I hope I will achieve a lot of things this year.
I suffer from anxiety, low confidence, low self-esteem and other things.
I'm not fighting back, I've recently started my new job just over 2 weeks ago. So that's a good start.
I'm hoping to join a gym, I will be visiting a gym near me on Friday afternoon. I have a feeling it's going to be really expensive though and my parents won't like the idea of me joining a gym that costs too much. I really want to look good and be in good shape.
I've never been to a gay bar or had a boyfriend or done anything gay with anyone.
I'm also hoping to come out to a couple of my friends and I'd like to meet new people who can accept me for who I am.
Those are my goals for this year.
Such a shame I'm ill though, lol.

    Happy Birthday!!!

When I was younger I worked in sales. They said do the thing you fear most, whether it be talking to people face to face or making cold calls by phone or speaking in front of a large crowd or a room full of people. In time it will become second nature. You will feel a sense of accomplishment and strength that you overcame iticon_idea.gif

Happy Birthday! Just remember that everything that's holding you back will seem like nothing in 10 years time so do all the things you've planned for this year and whatever the outcome believe me you won't regret it in the long run icon_cool.gif

    Happy birthday stud-muff'n

don't let the cost deter you from joining a gym...many places are to cheep (in my opinion) a lot of people use this as an excuse not to go...set a goal(s). A trick I found that worked for me is telling someone.
example: telling a coworker, "I will not work this shift anymore...next week I will put in for a transfer."
Now I had to do it, because facing her a week later wouldn't be acceptable, if I hadn't done what I promised.

    Happy Birthday!

I can relate to many of the things you stated, and had to overcome many of my own insecurities and anxiety when I was younger. What helped me was doing one thing at a time, which it appears you are doing. Really working on my fitness really helped; I started feeling more confident, met new people, and overall I felt healthy.

I too came out very slowly to friends and family, a person at a time. Doing this helped to lower my anxiety, and also become closer with amazing people, but was not overwhelmed with trying to make a big announcement.

It is inevitable because we are human, but do your best not to compare yourself to others. Rather see in them positive qualities that you yourself would like to have. It is your life, your story to write.
