For those of you who are unaware of this, our city hosts many adult events, not to mention every night is an adult event here. The gays here are very open about their sexuality, which makes them an easy target for religious zealots. Most of them come from other cities on large buses and consider it their duty to judge and berate non-Christians. They show up with bullhorns and enormous signs and scream offensive judgments at the crowds. All the locals here are completely fed up with it, and so the city has had to create some rather harsh laws to control them. Some of these laws are apparently unconstitutional, but without them, these fucktards are ruining our unique city.

After reading the article below, I'd be curious to know if you guys have any ideas on how we can control these idiots without breaking Constitutional law.

I'm sure New Orleans gets a lot of revenue from general tourism, in addition to hosting adult events. I'm sure your local politicians can find creative ways to correlate loss of potential revenue due to these religious zealots scaring away visitors.

Have the local media paint them as WBC knockoffs, and mock their lack of originality. They'll eventually get run out of town by the locals and visitors.

I don't think you realize just how disruptive they can be. Imagine the Westboro Baptist Church, and you get the idea. These are mean, aggressive people who are basically disrupting the peace. They start out-right riots. We've tried everything.

Everyone knows that there are perfectly legal (Constitutional) laws against disturbing the peace.
So, the key to winning this, would probably be the noise level of these street preachers with bull horns.
Take away their bull horns, and they're pretty much impotent.
There's no Constitutional right to use a bull horn.

They've already done that. But then they apparently sued because they said their bullhorns were no louder than the music coming out of the bars.

I would think the key here is not to give them the attention that they are seeking. The more press they get the more they win. I've seen these guys in person each time I have been to New Orleans and I just walk past them. They never ruin my time there.

A couple of times when I have been there you always see one or two people approach them to argue and it never does any good, it's an exercise in futility. It will never change their mind.

The biggest problem with the WBC situation is that they get the media coverage that they need to continue their donations needed to fund their actions. The more press, the more money. It's how they build their warchest.
