Actually this trail reminds me of a trail I was on a couple of weeks ago trying to get down to a nude beach on Tenerife in the Canary Islands. It is surprising what I will do to get somewhere I want but that does not mean that I am not shaking in my boots while doing it. The trail I was on switched back down a 300 foot cliff and had a similar cement path for about 30 feet of the distance that was attached to the cliff face but it did not have any gaping holes to pass over. Most of the trail was just rock and sand and part of the trail was only about a foot wide with a sheer drop beside it.

The path in the video is in Malaga Province in Southern Spain where I live. So I might go do this just to get myself away from the f##king political convention and all the threads about them

My question is, would you be willing to take a hike on a path like this?

Also, any thoughts are welcome but try not to link it to BHO or McPalin please.

I've been in some hikes that were pretty bad but they would Palin comparison to the one on the video. There was one in this beautiful park that had a great view on top of a cliff. We were using sticks to support ourselves ont he way up, but my mom lost hers so she had to use McCain. We were planning on having a picnic once we climbed on top but Biden the night had arrived and it was dangerous so we headed back.

    SHUT-UP!!!!

All I can say is... Mommie!

There is no way in hell you'd get my a$$ on that. I used to have no issues with heights but at some point after about 24 that changed. I'd dived out of a plane and loved it, but I won't be walking across a dertiorated concrete bridge hanging from the clouds. no sir.

    Cool-ass video though...

Oh heeeeeeeeeell no. Freaking gorgeous, but no. Wish the video had shown more of the scenery instead of the precarious footing, but I guess that was the point of the vid. Still, a great watch. Thanks for sharing (and for the attempt to divert us from the idiocy that is the invasion of American politics).

Actually that walk did not seem bad except for a couple of spots. Then again I don't mind heights that much, and the view was kind of pretty.

It looks fun, provided the path was in reasoned order. I doubt I'd ever have the guts to do what this guy apparently did....

Where ever you go, people will fight about politics. What I see in this board now I lived through a couple of years back when we had elections in Mexico.

Assorted people: "ROAR! YOU ARE WRONG! VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE I AM VOTING FOR!!!"

    Others: Meh. *apathy*

Only like 60% of the country voted. And only about 30% of those voted for the candidate who is now president. Yay for democracy.

    Awesome video!

Funny, watching so much youtube and such I was actually expecting the guy to fall, perhaps even anticipating it, which made me realize how sick I am lol.

I am terrified of heights and escalators! But I try to do fun and exciting things, I might hike a path like that but I would probably need the clamps and gear to abate my fears of falling to my death.

Interesting structure. For what purpose was it originally built, and why has it deteriorated? I'm glad I didn't have to haul all that concrete up there!

I was thinking the same things. Also, was he tethered to the rock face when he had to cross those sections with only a steel pipe for support?

I dunno, I'd do this if tethered, but otherwise, nada.

LOL, Guilty the Tomb Raider, I guess you guys could read more into that than what I originally intended. icon_biggrin.gif However, that trail was not intended for big men. I'm weighing in at a solid 220 now with hopes to pack on atleast ten more pounds of lean muscle. Great view, but who was that holding the camera, an anorexic eight year old, seemed like it.

I think I just shat my pants. I almost expected it to end with a horrible fall and be some viral video to an upcoming movie a la Cloverfield. But guess not. Unreal.

    Wow, that was awesome!

I have no idea, if I'd be able to handle a trail like that - seemed pretty unstable (in some parts more than others). But would definitely be willing to give it a go if somebody with the experience (and the right gear) guided me icon_razz.gif

    Thanks for sharing.

I have only been on seven nude beaches in Spain and they are all around where I live except for the one I mentioned in the OP which is just east of Puerto de la Cruz, on Tenerife, in the Canary Island chain, but, then again you must be able to negotiate that scary trail. Once you are down on the beach, though, it is wonderful. The waves are perfect for low level surfing and the black volcanic sand feels so good on the feet. The terrain is similar to Hawaii.

The best nude beach around here is without a close second. It is called Benalnatura and is just southwest (3k) of Benalmadena's (Costa) main tourist area of built up construction. If you ever do get to the South Coast of Spain, though, give me a holler, and I will show that beach to you as I go there at least twice a week all year round.
