Four month old rescued from a high kill shelter in TN. She's adorable.

Has anyone else rescued a dog? Would love to hear stories. icon_biggrin.gif

Good on you for rescuing from a shelter! I am sure that you will have years of joy together! Dog's are great companions!!

I have three rescues, a 13 year old lab, a 8 year old lab chow mix and a three year old catahoula. All are rescues and bring so much joy to my life.

Dogs are seriously God's (if there is one) gift to mankind. Been wanting to adopt one, but need to become more financially able to care for one first...

Adopted a 9 year old rescue from RAGOM (Retrieve A Golden Of Minnesota) in August. He's the sweetest, gentlest dog I've ever encountered. Tugged my heart strings immediately.

I rescued Stellie from the Chicago pound in July 2011, when she was about 8 months old...she was treated for pneumonia before I was allowed to adopt her. She's queen of the castle, but my constant shadow and she fancies herself a lap dog at 45 pounds..lol

Firstly, top awards to you, bud....you will be greatly rewarded.....my big guy is Ben, a dob/shep Xmutt that I adopted from the SPCA shelter when he was 7months old, he's been with me about 4 years now and he's my soulmate....my little girl, Paz, was an undernourished tick infested little orphan that followed us home from our walk in La Paz. She's an adorable terrier/lab X. They both drive me crazy and i'd never part with them.

I'm glad they allowed me into their lives....

Kelly in the front. Joe in the back. Found them both on the street about a month apart. That was 13 years ago, so they're both around 15-16 years old now. Joe was paralyzed when I found him in the middle of the street. Cars were just running right over him because everyone assumed he was dead. Took him a long time to relearn to walk again, but he's in great health now, even for his age. This is them at work. They go everywhere with me.

She's such a handful I love it. Yeah she's part Beagle and the shelter thinks part Bluetick Coonhound. She has these gorgeous blue spots on her tummy! icon_lol.gif

I rescued my dog 3 years ago from a person that locked her in a car with the windows up on a warm spring day! When I called the cops she was already showing signs of heat stroke so on the phone with the cops that I broke the window took the dog to the vet. Never got charged for anything. I was lucky in that aspect, but I was even luckier a week later when I brought home my new best friend.

Looks full of mischief. Named after the Perry Mason prosecuting attorney? Whose nickname was Ham Burger? Tell me one of you has done drag as Della Street and I'll die. icon_biggrin.gif

I've had 2 rescue dogs over the years. In the 1970s it was a 1-eyed Collie-Husky puppy scheduled to be put down, as nobody wanted him. I sometimes had him wear an eye-patch, very cool-looking, and named him Patch, The One-Eyed Wonder Dog. He lived a full life to his teens.

My other rescue dog was a Cocker Spaniel puppy found abandoned in a field, along with his sibling. The shelter had already named them Andy & Sandy, with Sandy spoken-for before I arrived. Andy Dog was beautiful, but developed many health problems. I finally had to have him euthanized 6 years later at the vet, and watching him slip away while I petted and held him was very tough.
