I haven't gone to church in a few years and am hoping to get back into it. Does anyone have recommendations? I'm mostly looking for either Evangelical, Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran type churches downtown, hopefully with SOME young people haha. It doesn't even have to be an affirming church.

    Thanks!

Thanks guys, but I generally stay away from United... I find it too diluted or PC, and I'm pretty traditional in my faith (well except the gay part). Traditional in doctrine only though, as I actually prefer less formality. (in shanghai, my church was in a warehouse icon_biggrin.gif)

Are you insane? You still think God and Jesus love you? You're gay! Havent' you been listening to the religious right in America?

OK. Kidding. That's what I was originallly going to say, and then I thought. what if he's genuinely religious and it matters?

I have no answer, after much thought. You are amonst friends. We accept you for being gay and we love you and all that stuff.

Who in that religious world would say the same?

It's not an easy battle, coming out to freinds first, and then siblings, and then your siblings help you come out to yoru parents. But it happens, a lot.

You think it's easier for a gay kid in Iran? You're the fortunite one. Do it.

Don't get me wrong. Like I said, i have little patience for liturgy, but my values are generally old school.

@barriehomeboy: haha why do u assume i'm closeted? I'm out to my family... none of them are Christian except me.

i assume you are aware of evangelical stances on homosexuality? Baptists are evangelical...youth groups are great and i'm sure there are closeted kids in them...i guess if you are aware of the dragon that awaits you, then enter the den.....

There are the gay friendly churches in Ontario. Aside from the United Church, seems like Anglican or a few Lutheran Churches are your best bet.
