    Stem cells can do fucking anything. Just have to figure out how to make the right type of cell and get the body to accept them as their own rather than foreign bodies/cancer.

    Yes Bluey, you are correct.. stem cells do indeed do everything.

    The breakthrough is when one can induce stem cells to not only become the desired cell of choice, but to also complete tissue engineering to make a viable and competent tissue for clinical use.

    I took a tissue engineering class last semester, very interesting indeed. the cool thing about it today, is that you can obtain cells from the patient themself (fat cells for example), and revert them to stem cells, and then into target tissue, while still being the patients cells, and therefore no rejection or immune response

    It sounds like they're pretty much rebuilding the sinoatrial node... It's cool, but based on the versatility of stem cells, not really shocking.
