Put Elizabeth Warren on the Banking Committee!

First, close your eyes, imagine Elizabeth Warren facing down banksters, with subpoena power.

Then, sign our petition (at the link) to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid asking him to give Elizabeth Warren a position on the Senate Banking Committee:

I'm number 17,339 to sign the petition.

Actually, I'd love to see her as the Senate Majority Leader.

Whoa here....she hasn't taken office yet!!! I really like and respect her. If she has a twin--may she move to Florida and run for US Senate against dumbass Marco Rubio in 2016.

What's the problem with Warren, you fish-faced enemy of the people?

Popular opinion to the contrary, she doesn't really seem to understand anything about the financial system. Or if she does she's only interested in demagoguery about it.

Her brainchild, the CFPB, is an abomination - a federal bureaucracy with almost unlimited - and undefined - powers. In other word, it can basically do whatever it wants in the name of consumer protection, but there are no statutory limits on its mandate. Basically, ANYTHING. There are no other federal agencies like that, none. Have fun with that as your regulator.

Plus she was one of my law school professors a million years ago. She was dreadful, and boring. I am flabbergasted at what she has become. Frankly, ai don't think she's nearly a smart as people think she is, and I don't trust her one bit. I think she's going to just fuck shit up.

Besides your calling it an abomination, I can't find anything wrong with CFPB having unlimited powers to protect consumers, especially given the regulatory capture of nearly every other department from HHS to the FDA to Treasury to the Fed. icon_rolleyes.gif

Power unlimited and undefined by the congressional authorization. You try running a business in the face of that kind of regulatory overhang. icon_rolleyes.gif right back.

Lions and Tigers and Unlimited powers ... Oh MY!

It's not like the Banking Industry has any powers that can wreck an economy or anything
It's not like they can cause a meltdown that woulda required the biggest infusion of cash in American history or anything like that right?

Oh well, there had to be a downside to the Democratic victories. Don't get me wrong, as a whole I'm happy about the election.

But for the reasons I posted upthread, ugh.
