Post videos of insane video of Russian driving.

I've seen videos where if I were in that situation I would have left a brown patch on the seat of my car.
Also if anyone lives or has been to Russia. Why do people drive like that?!

god damn, the 2nd vid was crazy.
I could only assume that a lot of russians drive like that cuz they're drunk?

isn't like half the male population of Russia drunk at any given point?

    Fucking idiots.

My understanding is in general many drivers are too cheap to bother with making sure things like tires and brakes are In good working order. That and aggressive driving is considered a right of passage.

I think the white lines on the pavement there are only suggestive as to where you should be driving your car. icon_rolleyes.gif

Having been in Russia now for two months, I can honestly say that seeing people drive like this is a regular thing. It's really frightening actually.

Just the other morning on my way to school (same time as morning rush hour), I actually had to jump off of the sidewalk, because some person was impatient and decided to pull off the road and use the sidewalk as a passing lane.

Why do people drive like this? I don't know. My assumption is because people here are naturally always quick (seemingly in a hurry) to get from point A to B as soon as possible.

that's how people drive down here. and I was that black Mercedes once upon a time, only it was a beige Explorer that almost hit me and IT got up on two wheels TWICE afterward.

The second video is a much more insane version of how i drive sometimes. He's taking chances that i wouldn't in a million years and the reckless disregard with which he drives is almost palpable in the video. I change lanes and pass somewhat rapidly but i have a limit as to what I'm willing to push as "acceptable risk"

Good point. I was just making my comment on what I have noticed here. Doesn't mean that there aren't a number of horrible bad drivers back home.

Oh I know there are countless of other bad drivers throughout the world. Bangladesh, South Korea, China are notorious for bad driving.

But what I don't understand is why there isn't any firm action by government to uphold strict traffic laws

Canada and USA have there fair share of bad drivers but there are consequences to for reckless driving.

And i would like to call the first video a good driving skill second one just reckless driving and the video right turn like a boss i would call aggressive type and i could call my self an aggressive driver also.

I would never drive in Russia. I can't begin to tell you how nervous I was almost every time I had to cross the street anywhere when I lived in Nizhny Novgorod. I always thought DC/NOVA traffic during rush hour was terrible, but seeing the traffic in Nizhny, oy!

Add snow and ice to the mix, which is generally during most of the year!

But I still wonder about driver education and regulation. Does it hold any meaning?

The one thing they seem to care about is driving under the influence. I know the authorities don't hesitate to crack down on that. Everything else is up in the air. Of course, it doesn't help either that a number of police forces in various jurisdictions are terribly corrupt.

Oddly enough, public transportation in Russia is pretty reliable. Even though bus and marshrutka drivers are just as crazy as people with private cars, they get the job done.

That pretty much looks like how people drive on the 400 when I leave Barrie in the morning on the way to Toronto.

If some of you are wondering why there are so many Russian driving videos, I've heard that insurance scams are really common. So most people have a dash cam to protect themselves from scammers trying to get you into a collision.

actually, the first video is a good Stability Control system on the Lexus. It doesn't take much "skill" to yank the shit out of a steering wheel if you have electronic babysitters to keep you from killing yourself.
