So I'm curious as to what you guys think are some typically gay things. For example, I used to know a lot of dude who drove Saturn's, so I started thinking Saturn was a gay car. I used to smell Aqua di Gio on dudes, so I thought that was a gay cologne. Apparently a lot of gay dudes read David Sadaris, so I consider him a "gay author" (is that redundant?)

Anyway, what are some of the types of brands/things you've come to equate with "gay", like shoes, clothes, food, TV shows, books, etc.

I guess I needed to clarify what I was looking for. Like I was saying above, instead of saying "gay car" I would say "Saturn is a gay car" and instead of "gay cologne" I would say "Aqua di Gio is a gay cologne".

    Gay face? Elaborate?

If I venture a guess, I would say it's how some gay people seem to look kinda down syndromy. A slightly round race with somewhat droopy eyes.

But maybe you have a different definition.

LOL. Well first off sorry I went on a tangent from the thread a little since a face isn't an object you can own (unless you play dress up with dead people's faces...sicko). People have independently come up with their versions of what gay face looks like. My version of gay face is best displayed when someone smiles:

    -Overall Smile is overexaggerated
-Lips curl too far upward giving a disproportionate above-lip/below-lip ratio
-Eyes wide open yet eyebrows don't move up at all
-Muscles around the eyes barely flex (it's mostly a fake camera pose smile)

When not in smile pose, gay face has weird eyes that seem to pop out and scream "I'm gay."

If you ever watch South Park, that Episode with the Harley twins where they say "ohhh I have a raging clueeeee," is a perfect example of gay face.

So anyway, here's some tangible things I think are gay:

    Abercrombie
    Hollister
    Martini
    Emo style
    Rollerblades
    Ed Harley

Abercrombie & Fitch seems to be very popular. With the older gay men, Judy Garland, Bette Davis, The Wizard of Oz and James Dean.

Leather chaps also used to be very popular, and still is but in smaller numbers.

Also disco music from the 1970's, poppers, and calling members of the same sex by female names. I am dating myself I know. icon_redface.gif

OOh, how about gay career fields?

When I was in the military, seemed like all the gay dudes were in either Intelligence or Medical. Not sure why it came out that way, but seemed to be the way it was.

Now I seem to see a ton of gay guys in finance (mainly working for banks). Oh and baristas for Star Bucks or sales clerks for Abercrombie or any of it's knock off stores.

In the professions I have met a lot of gay accountants, teachers and lawyers. Especially teachers. Government seems to attract a lot of gay men. Partially it is due to the anti-discrimination laws (like in Ontario) but also other employees pry less into your private life. You are not expected to go to a lot of work functions to promote your career.

I have met very few doctors, cops, firemen, and pilots in the gay community in Toronto.

Gay men were in intelligence? Surprising...this answers a lot of questions for me.

The medical befits us. It's about the pants. They're great to show off the butt.

For the longest time I saw gay dudes who wore rings on their thumbs, so I started thinking all dudes who wore rings on their thumbs were gay. Well, when I asked a dude if he was gay one time, he took no offense, but said no. So either he was hiding it, or the thumb ring is just a style.
