So I am finally allowed to take some definitely needed R&R and of all the places I looked up I've decided to go to Prague around New Years.

My time frame is from 28DEC - 5JAN. I was wondering if any of you have been there. If so, any tips on must see places, restaurants, ideas on what to do and whatnot.

OBTW... Anyone is more than welcome to join this adventure of mine.icon_biggrin.gif

I wish that I could join you in Prague. I have heard that it is a very beautiful, historic city that did not allow gigantic skyscrapers to radically alter its ancient cityscape.

icon_biggrin.gif One of the many reasons I chose that place for my R&R. icon_biggrin.gif

I was there in '85 and '92. I am sure it has changed a lot in 20 years, but back then I would have called it the Paris of Eastern Europe. It is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen.

There's an article in today's New York Times about out-of-the-way things to see there.

Lets just hope that Prague is still a very beautiful, historic city that has not been invaded by insane, speculative real estate development.

Prague is great. You can also take an easy side trip by train to see Dresden, Germany, which is very much worth seeing.

Never been to Prague, but I hope to go there sometime in the future. Being a college student sucks at times!

Luckily I went to France, Italy, and Spain this past summer with the family and I loved Barcelona & Rome. Beautiful cities. I'm not into cities like London & Paris. They are overrated in my mind.

I suggest going out with the locals and trying to find nontourist things. I did that on my own in Rome and it was incredible wandering around the hotel (which was outside the tourist area) and just interacting and watching how Rome is in daily life.

So true... The only way to see the real place is to inject yourself with the local population. It's like whenever I got friends that's never been to Hawaii that visits, I call up my family and friends to show him/her around local style and have a great time.icon_biggrin.gif
