So ageism is rampant in both the straight and gay communities, and the question is why.
Recently, the new twighlight movie came out. In the movie a girl falls in love with a 200 year old vampire who has ceased to age beyond his late teens/early twenties.
This relationship is celebrated and endorsed by millions of people who buy these books and movies. Yet it is generally agreed upon that an older man dating a younger woman is not ideal. If anyone saw and 80 year old and a 20 year old sharing an intimate moment in the park, many people would think it was gross!
Edward Cullen is over twice the age of our 80 year old man! Are we disarmed by his young spry body? Do we really dislike age because it causes a chasm of life experience between the old and the young that doesn't make for healthy romance, or is it really as simple as wrinkles and liver spots?
