Some people take your kidness as a sign of weakness.

I read this comment from one of my friends, and it made me think that to some point this is true, what do you think?

Being kind isn't the same thing as being a doormat, but letting people do whatever they want regardless of your wants or priorities doesn't constitute you being kind, either.

Yes, it is quite common. Those who thought that of me, wound up abruptly surprised by the contrary revelation. Of those thoroughly shocked by this realization, it gave me the opportunity to see how very hateful & presumptuous they really were.

Do you mean yes it's true that kindness is a weakness (to some point, as you say) or do you mean yes it's true that some people think it's a weakness?

@meninlove, I mean it in the sense that some people perceive it as a sign of weakness.

Just_Tom saidI can't recall a single time something bad happened to me from being kind.

You're very lucky. Give it time. Some people know very well how to take advantage of other people's kindness. You don't forget that kind of evil.

Kindness is NOT a sign of weakness. It is a sign of confidence, and therefore a lack of fear.

Anybody who may take my kindness as a sign of weakness has a surprise awaiting them.

Kidness? I think acting like a kid could be a sign of weakness.

I was brought up to be kind and sincere. Yet I do find if you're too kind to people they walk all over you and you never get what YOU want. When you say "No" then all of a sudden you're a ass. Cant win. :S

I'd be tempted then to ask those people exactly which acts of kindness they would consider weak. icon_wink.gif

In my experience that's never been the case. I live my life by the Golden Rule. I like to be treated well, so I treat others well. Everyone deserves kindness and respect.

That doesn't mean, however, that I'm going to let people walk all over me and treat me badly. You can certainly be assertive and take up for yourself and still be a kind person. I have to admit that at times, it's very difficult being kind to a total douchebag.
