SEIU is protesting almost a year after one companies workers voted to get out of the SEIUunion. Smells like Greece to me. Especially since the protestors do not even work at the airport and dont represent the company.
What they are protesting apparently is that LAX is contracting with a non-union company.

Aviation Safeguards said workers voted to leave the union and that it has increased wages to compensate for its new health care policy, ABC reports.

"We petitioned to leave the SEIU almost a year ago, and the contract ended,'' Frederick McNeil of Aviation Safeguards said. "And now they're bringing in outsiders to block travelers who are just trying to get home for the holidays. It's ridiculous. People need to understand that SEIU doesn't speak for the employees at Aviation Safeguards.

What are you talking about? The union is protesting the fact that the employees of the company voted them out. They are protesting for workers they do not even represent anymore.

It would be a different thing if it was the workers themselves striking.

    from Huntington Post article.

"Aviation Safeguards said workers voted to leave the union and that it has increased wages to compensate for its new health care policy, ABC reports."

So SEIU is protesting the fact it is NOT the union representing those workers anymore .It legally has no negotiating position anymore. If those workers wanted to create there own union outside of SEIU they could.

I read the other thread and you went on bloviating before you understood the facts. THE WORKERS VOTED IN A SIZABLE MARGIN TO GET OUT OF THE UNION LAST YEAR. The SEIU is protesting the basic fact that LAX is using non-union labor. They lost power and want it back obviously. The workers can organize and unionize or choose not to. According to SEIU thats not allowed ( sounds like a mafia shakedown to me)

About a Dozen "protestors" as in the past LAID IN THE STREET of an intersection to deliberately block traffic.
