Help my ass...literally

    Hey guys, I have have been doing insanity for the past month and it's working amazingly for me. I've lost 20 pounds!
    While that is exactly what I want, there's a certain side effect. I'm losing my ass! O.0
    I guess that it only had any shape because of the extra weight, but I would prefer some shape back there.

    So...

    What exercises help build and shape the butt? I don't need it to be all muscle and whatnot, I just don't want it flat.

    Thank you in advance for any exercises that you know of.

    It may sound weird, but I have found that spinning class is making my butt bigger.

    A silly exercise, but it works: When you're sitting on your butt all day or relaxing, do a few sets of butt-clenches. It's not as effective as squats, but it's better than nothing!

    Unless you want your booty to ripple like that of a chick from Alabama, as your top smacks it to tighten up your sphincter while fucking, the ass you lost by working out is not the ass you wanted anyway. Keep working out and those big cheeks will return as that firm, sought-after bubble

    Squats...make sure you're doing full range of motion. From standing to hip crease all the way below parallel.

    I thought squats work the whole body. I've been trying to avoid getting a big butt! I want a small firm butt... how do I get that lol

    Squats... the panacea for all that ails you. Better than snake oil, for sure!

    Oh, and imasrxd is right: full range of motion is important. So is pushing your knees out. For the latter it helps to train occasionally with elastic bands pulling your knees together and you pushing aginst them while doing air squats.

    Before I knew that squats were the master of all butt improvement workouts, I never really realized how many times you have to do them in the Insanity workouts. Now, when I do them, I have yet another new found motivation to do them even better and even more.

    Reverse lunge comes to mind, though if youre doing insanity, try upgrading to p90x, there are whole sections specifically for lowerbody/glutes.

    I actually own and just about completed P90X. It definitely multiplied my own strength and endurance, but I wasn't really seeing the physical results I wanted. My only real goal is to immensely reduce my body fat. So when I realized and saw that I was getting stronger and bulking up...I sort of started to get lazier and lazier at it. After I finish Insanity and I (FINALLY) lose my tummy, then I really do believe that I will do P90X to tone up. That 15 minute abs work out and the wall/leg/lift workouts...oh those are nothing but pain! ;) I do thank you too though because I never thought of doing the legs dvd as a supplementary work out.
    I am kind of kicking myself though because after I took a hiatus from P90X was when I learned that muscles burn more calories. Gah!

    Also...Tony really annoyed me. Shaun T never annoyed me. So...it was a lot easier for me to stay hooked on Insanity.

    Did you guys know that Shaun T also recently came out by marrying his boyfriend? I just love that. <3

    Started with heavy deep squats or deadlifts, and then follow up with some separate glute machine exercise like glute lift etc. works magic;)

    I was going to suggest this exact thing with lunges before isolating the glutes, but judging by "somewhat"'s pictures, I think it's obvious he knows a lot more on this topic than me... lol
