In hindsight I realized I was being dramatic. 30's and 40's isn't old. I guess I shouldn't have said old but older than me. I was just frustrated.

But seriously wtf is up with this?

    Take better pics.....you look like you're 50.....and not a good 50 either.

I bet not only are you getting old guys, but you're probably getting fat old guys who are in the closet....they probably think they're doing you a favour, based on those pics.

New haircut, new pics, lose those glasses....smile...try something other than your dead grandpa's plaid.

There's hope for you....not much though, so make good use of it.

I get a bit of attention from both young people and older people. They tell me I'm cute so which is it? Do I look OK or do I look like a a 50 year old in my grandpa's plaid?

I can't wear contacts cause my eyes have a bad reaction to them so I always wear glasses. That shirt is an American Eagle shirt which obviously isn't an old man shirt. I'm complimented on my hair and my looks often. I know that's not a very good picture cause I suck at taking pictures but geez do I look as bad as this person says? Be honest.

I think you look great, but that's just me.

You are who you are. Own it, and be comfortable.
There's something to say about cookie-cutter style... absolutely nothing.

Lol. You made a thread that was unnecessarily harsh/rude....I was only giving you a "mean girls" dose of that back, really as much for the humour of it as anything else. My post wasn't really intended to provide you any meaningful feedback other than to show you how unattractive that kind of attitude is. I can't believe how many times it was quoted, lol....I laughed more about that than anything else, hahaha.

The best advice you got in that thread was to make your chosen target range prominent in your profile and ignore those that don't meet it and hit on you, or just accept the compliment from any of us "old geezers". icon_wink.gif

The best advice from my post, imo, is just to smile in your pics.

OK well that makes me feel better. I felt really bad after posting it honestly. I guess I need to control my emotions more. And if it means anything I think you're a good looking 46 year old. I'm not as vain as I made myself out to be.

if people find you attractive in real life than the problem really might be the pictures, go ask some photographer friend or pay for a shooting

Send all the "mature" men to me. Age is only a number, but maturity is not! Remember whatever goes around, comes around. Someday hopefully you will reach that "certain" age.

You are cute but you need better hair. I was born with that kind of hair too, but it's chopped and styled and spiked and it looks less like a dead rat. Not in my pix here though. I save that for the real people :-)

Short answer -- some Guys will think Yer Hot...some won't. That is true for EVERYone. For every Guy who thinks You are Hot, there are 10 who don't. For Every Guy who thinks Your not Hot, there 10 who lay awake nights thinking about You.

Not alot You can do about Your glasses. Even less ANY Dude can do about how old He is. I think You got that analogy a while ago.

Every now and then I get a little attention. It is nice. It is not always from Guys I am particularly interested in.

HOWEVER, I have NEVER been anything less than flattered and GENUINELY grateful. It is not always easy for people to hand out a compliment or even just COMMUNICATE. SO when they do -- I honor it. It's not a big deal. And sometimes, SOMETIMES, it even sets things a little more right in the Universe.

If You are any good at what You are doing...You will attract everyone ( or at least a wide variety) BUT You will know how continue the conversation with the ones You are interested in -- and You will know how to let the ones you are not into down easily.

EVERYONE should walk away from You feeling a little better than they did when they walked in - regardless of wether or not they got Your phone number.

With your previous post, you ripped the scab off of an issue that has been a source of frustration for many of us here over 50. Guys here have been sent packing because of ignorant comments which is nothing but age discrimination.

Do yourself a favor while you are doing your "exterior makeover." Have a long conversation with yourself about treating gay men over 50 with decency and respect. We are the ones that paved the way for you to have it as good as you do today.

Don't discriminate and be more open-minded. Got it?

    [totters into room]

Now look here, sonny! It's nice to have you around, especially if I fall on that damned buzzer thing and can't get up by yelling at the television, but this talk about old folks has got to stop! Some people around here are even 41. Can you imagine the harm you are doing to their delicate psyches? One day you might get old enough to order your own drinks and then you'll see what it's like, I'm tellin' you!

Now you be a good fella and learn to appreciate your elders, even the ones with warts in odd places, and take them a belt of that tonic in the bottle labeled "bourbon" once in a while or I promise this one will whack you with the knob of his cane! And then he'll hit you with his walking stick, by george.

my brother, this attitude isn't and hasn't any claim over being gay....it's just an age old ignorance towards elders....and funny enough it is prevalent in white european society....native americans don't have it, oriental cultures don't, latinos don't.....it's just the 'me' group that was raised by fat, gutless, ok honey you can have what you want, just don't yell.....north american society....fucking shame ain't it.??

Your second thread about age and looks...Dude....We all get old...Some do it better than others...A lot of guys on here past 30...Most are hot...Your looks...You got a hipster style...it can be cute but looks are your surface...Are you concerned about a guy's depth? Something to think about...I'm out

Well RJ is a community, why get off on the wrong foot? I am glad you examined what you wrote and we all make asses of ourselves. Ageism is rampant in the gay world, sadly we all age. The worst thing to tell someone is that they are "OLD" and no longer relevant.
