Last year, I spent the holiday with a colleague "Arlene", her boyfriend "Fred", Arlene's mom "Cathy", Arlene's lesbian sister "Georgiana", her lesbian sister's wife ("Lisa") who subsequently become husband "Dick", and Arlene and Dick's two children (4yo boy; 3yo girl).
Can you say: "Complex Family Dynamics"?
Long story short. Everybody was just fine, except Georgiana who brought her childhood brand of fucked up cray-cray to the feast. At one point, Fred, Arlene and I were in one room when Fred said, "Is it just me, or is there something awkward in the air?" Arlene and I laughed and told Fred, "It's not just you, and Absofuckinglutely!"
This year, I'm gratefully enjoying Thanksgiving in the company and entertainment of me, myself, and I. Enjoying picking up the phone and calling friends in far away places. Enjoying eating anything and everything BUT turkey. haha!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
