Heading to New York in January

Hey guys, i'm from Australia and am going to head to New York in January for a month. I'm 19 and turns out that i'm underage in the US..... Was wondering which places I should go and visit, and are bars/clubs strict with IDs?

Yes NYC clubs tend to be strict unless you are lucky enough get in as part as an entourage.

HK Lounge is the only club I can think of which is 18+ with Friday being the night to go there. Of course my information is about a year dated so thinks might have changed.

If there are electronic/dance events held at Roseland ballroom these will be 18+ or even the odd 13+.

There is so much more to do in NYC than the bars and clubs. On top of that, drinks are way over priced at most places. Save your cash and go see some shows, take in some art galleries, and spend some time shopping.

It's closed until further notice due to damage from Sandy (coincidentally an Australian character on Grease).

I'm an Aussie and went to New York last year. I got to go to the gym for free! - New York Sports Club (NYSC) - google them, there's a few around the city, were giving out free 3 day passes so you might be able to do that if not a casual visit is usually 10-15 dollars.

Unlock your phone and getting an American sim so you can use Grindr, lol just to meet new people! And yeh definitely see a Broadway show!

A valid credit card may be all you need. However, unless you look like you belong there, you can get a wall of attitude at most gay friendly gyms. I recommend the Gold's Gym in the fifties. It's not the best equipped but plenty of gay guys and an occasional famous someone working out. Have fun.
