Just was ready to post this .. very sad indeed

What a loss! I wonder how it will be written in the new Dallas!

I understand Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray were both at his side when he died in a Dallas hospital today.....

    RIP LARRY!

    OMG.
    He was still alive?

Saw him 4-5 years ago on an impromptu I Dream of Jeanie reunion thing w/ Barbara Eden. She looked great. But Larry looked like he wouldn't make it thru the interview.

I am saddened! JR could never be replaced. Definitely one of the most distiguished characters on PT. How such an evil man could also manage to charm us! In real life, though he seemed like a nice man.

I've got the theme song to "I dream of Jeanne" playing in my mind. Swinging 60s big band stuff.

He was the best thing about the new Dallas, guessing that show won't last long now.

It indeed is very sad icon_sad.gif
Dallas would have never survived without him ! JR made Dallas bloody entertaining and , I am quite sure the "new" Dallas won't survive his departures .
Rest in peace , Mr Hagman , you will be missed ..

I bet a lot of guys here remember Larry Hagman's mother / Mary Martin - who was an award winning stage & screen actress and singer (South Pacific, The Sound of Music, and a whole lot more). She spent a good amount of time in San Francisco in her later years and those of use who live here were lucky enough to see her on stage, and out and about. 30 years ago a drunk driver smashed into her cab at California & Franklin Streets - causing injury and death in the cab - to Martin and her friends.

He appeared a very happy and upbeat guy, very personable, as everyone who knew him is saying, his main failing some alcohol abuse he overcame. He seems to have managed to turn that gleeful personal exuberance to suit the evil JR character, the guy who could smile while he was stabbing you in the back, and then celebrate it without guilt or remorse.

He was the son of one of the greatest Broadway stars, Mary Martin, who managed to find his own fame & success, not be overshadowed by his famous parent. A wonderful life.

Back in the 50's he baby sat for one of my best friends. Jim loved him and said even then, as a young airman in Germany, he was the coolest babysitter possible!

Playing an abusive husband long before "Dallas," Hagman revealed young Candice Bergen in the finale of her film debut "The Group" to be the ringleader of a lesbian cabal! Check out their catty chemistry as he hitches a ride with her to his wife's burial, and yes, that's "Arrested Development's" tough-talking Jessica Walter turning to jello in the beginning of the clip:
