When you are out running errands and you don't have any snack bars on you and your stomach starts to grumble? What if you have a workout planned in the next hour or so?

Honestly, I always have the snack bars around. That's my survival food.

(now go bump up my Mark Bingham thread)

Granola bars or a meal replacement drink. I might also pick up a package of mixed nuts or a banana.

Thats just stuff I can find at a convenience store. Not claiming it's the perfect pre-workout food.

Generally fruit and nuts. Or coffee and a bagel.

Hmm, same answer or nothing if I just feel hungry (and not low on energy).

I used ot keep a bag of 'sacred peanuts' in my jeep console, However, since I've been banned from ingesting pounds of Peanut M&Ms, that's just too damed tempting. they've been replaced by little things called 'energy cubes' that I can buy in bulk at a couple of stores up here (Fred Meyer, PCC Co-op, ect.)
They're like dark chocolate tasting almond things, about 1x1, taste good, and 1 or 2 of them take the edge off without being big enough to fill me up & throw my workout timing off

Those are great. One little cube can stave off hunger for over an hour. I used to pop one at halftime during rugby matches. They're called Energee Nuggets and are in the bulk department at my little healthy grocery store here. But they used to be $2.39 a pound and then inexplicably they jumped to over $6 a pound. So I'm back to chewy granola bars (which more and more are turning into mere rice krispie treats) or cereal bars.

I find a convenience store and look for a cookie or a granola bar.

If I'm at home and not out running errands, I might make myself a piece of toast with peanut butter.
