Do you think Hamas "put Israel in its place" with this last fight?

“They put Israel in its place. They forced Israel to withdraw,” Amanda Izzat, a 23-year-old university student who was shopping in Ramallah on Saturday, said of Hamas.

The Palestinians are seeing this latest conflict with Israel as a victory of arms.

I truly dont think so at all. I really believe it is because Obama put Israel in its place and sent Hillary there to tell them to knock it off. And Egypt was given credit as a political cover for Obama.

I predicted before the election that Netanyahu isnt going to be PM for long. He stuck his thumb in Obama's eye during the election. And he tried to stir up these hostilities before Obama could get his balance back after an election. But Obama doesnt like Bibi and Obama is becoming much more aggressive post election.

Some Palestinians think that way - probably mostly the crazed youth. The real benefit the Palestinians my have obtained is Morsi (possibly) loosening the embargo of goods flowing into Gaza - It will be interesting to see how far he goes in that direction when the Obama clearly does not want him to loosen things any - and Egypt is still getting a lot of US aid to buy them off. Morsi may just be giving lip service to the Palestinians. What Obama thinks of Netanyahu won't have any bearing on whether or not he gets elected. He just had a very popular military action, with a sense of actual national threat - so he may have become more popular. And what Obama thinks of Netanyahu won't change US foreign policy towards Israel a wit. The democrats rely on the pro-Israel Jewish vote in the eastern US, and don't dare to enunciate any policies that might be seen as anti-Israel, or even less supportive of Israel. Israel could annex all of the West Bank and force the arabs out to god knows where, and it would still have US government support. The most severe criticism of Israel would be some sort of Warren Christopher style of finger wagging (which Hilary has been trying out in recent years, but she is/was no match for Warren).
